Hidden Moments

"I need some ego-boosting after that incident."

-- Hua --

I found myself fidgeting with the ends of the note, the pieces of paper crumpling little by little under my fingertips as I made my way to the training room.

Why am I so nervous about this?

The note in my hand weighed like nothing, but the sender of this tiny piece of paper made my stomach flip. The words were straight and to the point, yet so cryptic. Of course, it would be expected though.

The sound of my feet hitting the smooth concrete did nothing to distract my mind from the events that had led to this moment.

***

Sitting at dinner, I silently listened to the rest as they told stories of the events that had unfolded during the time I was recovering at the hospital, not to mention, Anzhi's profuse apologies for knocking me out. It was like any other dinner, everyone achieving something new, while I struggled to even do the simplest of tasks.

At the moment, everyone was too busy to notice Haechan slipping me a piece of paper under my hand as he passed by our table out the door. Our eyes met for a split second, his eyes telling me to read the message. Alone.

I turned back to face my friends, clutching the paper in my hand, "I'm gonna go guys, I need to pass by the infirmary again," I watched as they nodded, each bidding me goodbye, hoping I would be in training tomorrow, "thanks guys, I'll see you all tomorrow."

I slowly got up from my seat, walking towards the exit, opening my palm to view the note.

Training grounds. 11 PM sharp.

My eyes widened, the events from the infirmary surfacing.

So, I wasn't dreaming. Oh, shit.

I had finally reached the training ground, scanning the darkness for a clock, seeing that I had arrived at the exact time he wanted.

11 PM sharp, not even one second la-

"You're late," echoed a voice, startling me.

I scanned the room once more, looking for any signs of movement, spotting a shadow from across me leaning on a pillar flipping the lights on as my eyes finally adjusted to the darkness.

I squinted in response to the bright light, a hand coming over my eyes, "I'm not late, you're just simply early, Haechan."

I watched as he walked towards me, his feet thudding on the ground lightly, "time is everything," he reasoned, tone ever so strict, "if you want to improve, you have to be here on time. Show me you want to be better, or else I'll think you're wasting my time."
