Amora had finally killed Shao Kahn and with him out of the way she demerged the realms, letting them be their own realms once again. But she then thought about if another person like Reiko or Rain could replace Shao Kahn, or a stronger being could arise. Amora then brought one person from each realm to the temple, forming an alliance. So when some evil, who would threaten all the realms, arises, they would be ready to defend their realms together as one.
