HEESEUNG

"I heard there was a new student in your department Jay." Jake said while they were hanging out in Jay's apartment.

Jay nods. "Yeah his name is Seo Jihoon."

Heeseung knew him of course, he has once asked his girlfriend to watch over his dog. At first he wanted to protest but he trusted Hana and if she says the man isn't anyone important, then he has no choice but to believe her.

"Jihoon's back in Korea? That's new." Jake says as if he knew the guy.

"You know him?" Jay asked.

He nods. "Of course. His family is close to ours."

"...and I heard Hana is his first love."

Heeseung almost broke the pencil he was holding after hearing what Jake just said. He did not know that detail at all and if he knew, well let's just say he wouldn't have been very nice to him.

"Where are you getting these gossips?" Jay raised his eyebrow. "But I mean he's kinda close with her so I guess I could see it."

Everyone's attention suddenly went to Heeseung when they heard the sound of a pencil snapping into two.

"Woah calm down there, don't worry I'm sure Hana wouldn't even be interested in him." Jake said, reassuring his best friend.

After Heeseung began to hear a lot more about Jihoon and as much as he wanted to set everything aside, he couldn't. Not when he could tell Jihoon still liked his girlfriend. Especially when Heeseung saw him carrying his girlfriend's bag. That day he was so exhausted, he had so much to do at the university but all he could think about was Hana. He has been neglecting her because of his studies, he just wanted to make it up to her.

Hana was the least dense person Heeseung has ever met and it bothered him that she kept denying the fact Jihoon likes her when it was so obvious. His exhaustion and jealousy was the reason the fight even broke out in the first place.

It didn't take Heeseung very long to realize his anger for Jihoon rooted from his insecurities. He has always been afraid that someday a man will come who was a better fit for the life given to Hana by her father. Someone who has a higher status in life, has a more famous name, and has her father's blessing. Heeseung failed in all those criteria but he tried not to let that affect what he and Hana has.

He worked hard everyday in hopes that some day he'll be able to face her father and prove to him that he's worthy of her. But during that process, he never realized that the reason he was even working hard in the first place was slowly slipping away from his hold.
