Would you ever believe that vampires have nightmares, could you ever imagine a vampire waking up screaming or in a cold sweat from a night terror? That a monster could ever be afraid?
Well they can and they do.
Some vampires dream that death finally came for them, that death chased them until they could run no more. Some dreamed of the night they were attacked and turned, others dreamt of their past lives, family, friends or lost loved ones and others they dreamt of a near death experience from their vampire life.
Rachael knew that Winston suffered from the latter.
What all vampires feared the most was actually finally dying. Finally turning to dust and becoming nothing, after living for so long. Winston had almost finally died and the thought of it had terrified him and haunted him ever since.
His nightmares had started to worsen and they were becoming more frequent. It seemed the closer he was getting to her, the more intense they became.
Rachael watched him as he twisted and turned in his sleep, taking great pleasure from his discomfort. He kept screaming out her name and Rachael was beginning to admire this woman, named Aelia that she had never met.
The person that had almost succeeded in killing him and Rachael knew his near death experience and Aelia's betrayal was eating away at him.
Jay burst into the room on hearing his brother screams and shouted out his name as he shook him awake.
"Winston, it's just a dream. Wake up." He cried as he shook him harder.
Winston flinched and jumped up when his brother touched him and Jay was surprised to see him shaking with fear.
"I could not get out," he whimpered still groggy from sleep, she staked me."
If Rachael had been in her human form she would have found it hard not laugh.
Jay hugged his brother, "it was a dream, and you did get out. Look you are standing here with me."
Winston looked sheepishly around the room and when he saw Rachael intensely watching him, he quickly pulled himself together and pushed his brother away.
"Lets go! I am going to send her a direct message."
Jay quizzically eyed his brother, "how?"
"Rachael here is going to bite Johan, call him back and tell him you want to meet him."
Jay looked quizzically at his brother not wanting to believe what he had just said.
"You actually want her to know you are alive, don't you?"
Winston smiled and nodded, "when Johan dies she will know she is next."
"What happened to taking their circle out one by one and pouncing before they even realise what is happening."
"I decided it's not really my style, I like it when she is scared and that phone call from Johan confirms that she is as they both now think there is a possibility I am alive. She will be quaking in her boots after what she did to me. I am going to give her what she deserves and I will make sure she knows this beforehand."
Jay kept quiet, unable to say what he really thought. He was surprised Aelia had not tried to kill him when he was human, she would have stood a better chance. He'd never been a big fan of Aelia but he could not blame her for what she did.
Jay's phone started to ring again.
"Answer it," Winston told his brother as he sat on the floor, he patted the space beside and motioned for Rachael to join him. She padded over to him and he immediately pulled her onto his lap and began to stroke her fur. It relaxed him, especially after a nightmare but Rachael hated it, she hated him touching her.
