Jeremiah scowled at Isaac as he threw his phone down onto the table.

“He wants us to go back out there; he wants me to kill Jason.”

Isaac shook his head in response, “it’s a suicide mission. Why did you not tell him? You saw how many wolves were at the hospital the last time we went there.”

“What am I supposed to do? He is angry and he wants it done today.” Jeremiah whined back.

Chester looked up from the book he was reading, “can’t you just leave that family alone now, he achieved what he really wanted; is that not enough?”

Jeremiah frowned back at him.

Chester ignored his expression and just continued, “Jason has children you know that and their mother; are you going to put her through the loss of another child?”

“Are you for real?” Jeremiah snapped.

Chester nodded back, “it’s how I feel and he, who you say loves you so much, has left you sitting in a growing pit of destruction. It’s not even safe to walk the streets, day or night and does he care? No.”

“Cut the melodramatics out Chester, why do you care about wolf shifters? They are trying to eradicate us over one wolf. He is my maker and I will do whatever he asks me to, as will you.”

Chester exhaled through his nose and shook his head.

Jeremiah laughed back at him, “I don’t know what your problem is with him. Without him you would not even be walking this earth. He turned me and I turned you, so you should be thankful. If it was not for me you would have rotted in that abandoned church. Did you forget how they gutted you and then left you there to die? You ought to be grateful that you ever met me because you would be dead if you hadn’t.”

Isaac groaned and sat down because once they started arguing it went on for hours. They resembled an unhappy married couple who found fault in everything their partner did or said but neither one of them would leave the other.

“Dead, I would not be dead. I would be at home with my girlfriend if I had never met you.”

Jeremiah mockingly half laughed and half coughed into his fist, “home! Really! I would have described it as a prison. You were forced to live there because of what you could do and they all treated you like dirt. Do you not remember banging on my door and begging me to help you when they were chasing you? You asked for my help and you got it.”

Before Chester could answer Isaac jumped up, “enough of your bickering, let’s go Jez. It will be dark in two hours and there are more of them out there at night.”

Jeremiah and Chester now eyed each other in silence and Jeremiah folded his arms and raised his eye brows as Chester continued to stare at him. However Jeremiah was his maker and Chester could not challenge him so he let his eyes drop to the floor.

Isaac clapped his hands, “let’s go and get it over with then.”

Chester grabbed Jeremiah’s arm as he walked past him, “be careful,” he whispered.

Jeremiah smiled back at him the he embraced him and as he kissed the side of his head, he whispered back, “I will.”

Chester felt slightly uneasy as he watched his maker leave because there was trouble brewing in the air; he could sense it.

“Don’t open the door and don’t leave the house until I get back,” Jeremiah said as he popped his head back through the door, “I’ll be back as quick as I can.” Even he could sense Chester’s wariness.
