Winston hadn't taken his eyes away from Racheal for the past two hours. He was enjoying seeing her discomfort, her pain, and her despair.

Her despair filled his heart with joy.

He watched as she cowered in the corner, her head resting on her knees, her arms hugging her legs and he smiled and then he laughed.

He knew she was hungry, and she was dirty he could smell her, but he did not care, he did not care at all. This was all part of his plan, to torture her, break her, send her down into submission and she was almost there.

Racheal flinched as he suddenly jumped up, not even daring to make eye contact with him as whenever she made eye contact, he talked to her, and she did not want to talk to him at all.

"What are you thinking half breed?"

She hated being called that but thankfully she did not have to answer as she heard the front door bang very loudly.

Thank Draugluin, it was Jaeus

"Oh, so my brother is finally home," Winston remarked. "Hope you brought lunch with you." he shouted.

Jay stood against the front door and rested his forehead, he had forgotten. He had other things on his mind. He had spent the last two hours alone, sitting in the park, contemplating.

'Could he actually do it?'

'What would happen if he actually betrayed his brother?'

'Would Racheal finally be free?'

'Would he finally be free?"

His uneasiness turned straight into anger as he walked into the front room and laid his eyes on Racheal.

"What the fuck did you do to her?"

"Where is my lunch?" Winston smugly replied not actually caring what his brother thought especially about her.

"I drained it, what did you do to her brother?"

"I haven't touched her."

"Then why is she cowering in the corner, brother" Jeaus screamed; he was livid, so he pushed him.

Winston was taken aback, his brother had never retaliated towards him before.

"Well, I am hungry and now I am really pissed off."

Jay shrugged his shoulders, "I don't give a shit, are you losing it again brother? If she does not eat, she will get sick and then what will happen with your plan? So go, feed, and sort yourself out."

To Jays surprise his brother agreed and promptly left.

Jay smiled at Racheal, "it's OK you can stand up, he has gone."

However, Jay had to help her to her feet as she was barely able to stand.

"You must be hungry Rach."

She shook her head, "he won't let me eat, he will know; I can't."

"You can, I am here now and I am not going anywhere so don't you worry."

For the first time in weeks Racheal smiled and followed Jay into the kitchen.

After she had eaten and showered, she felt human again well almost human.

"Here," Jay remarked as he passed her a package. "Quickly open it."

Racheal took the small oblong package from his hand and examined it.

Her heart began to race, "what is it?" she asked as she examined it, the shape resembled a phone.

Jay smirked, "it is, quickly call your brother or Max. We are in Baltimore, Maryland and we don't have long before my brother comes back."

This was the first time Rachel knew what state she was in.

"Why are you helping me?"

"I like you, but I am tired and I want out. I don't want to see my maker ever again or her, ever. I would have died two thousand years ago if it was not for her."

"Don't you enjoy being alive Jay?"

"I am not though really, am I? I am merely existing, not living and I am not loving this life."

Racheal shakily held the phone and Jay quickly held her hand in his to steady it, "its OK call."

Racheal's brain was fuzzy.

She called Jason which went straight to voice mail.

She redialled – voice mail, voice mail, voice mail, bloody voice mail.

Max

Dam she did not remember his number. She had never memorised it as the 'then jerk' had saved it as No.1 in her telephone.

My telephone!

Jay shook his head, "he destroyed it, just like that" he said as he snapped his fingers.

And Snap, that snap brought back a memory.

"Sit down Rach, there is something I want you to do." Jason said.

"Later Jace, I have somewhere to go." I wanted to go and see Mae; I needed my herbs.

"No sit now, Memorise this."

He gave me an odd phone number written on a piece of paper.

"Whose number is this? What do I need it for? "What is going on?"

Jason had not wanted to alarm Rachel but lately he'd been having strange, disturbing dreams where children shouted warnings at him, warnings about Rachel, the vampire that had recently taken interest in her and they would not stop.

Warnings the vampire would take her and she would never be seen again.

"Jace, you ok?"

"Lately with you sister I have little patience, so please just do it." He snapped.

"Ok, Ok Jace, I will."

Racheal could still remember it, so she dialled it.

It rang for some time, and she was just about to hang up when she heard a startled.

"Hello!"

Jenny, it was Jenny.

"Jenny," Racheal squeaked with tears welling in her eyes.

"Yes, who is this?"

Before Racheal could even reply Jenny screamed, "Racheal, Racheal is this you?"
