Yoongi's pov

An unsettling feeling of anxiety washed over Yoongi's body that night. He couldn't fall asleep.

Maybe he was the one who provoked him.

Maybe he was the one who pushed Romeo into a corner he couldn't escape from.

And after the entire CIA plan worked out, everything else felt like child's play to Yoongi.

No more life-threatening situations. No more danger.

He survived. Jimin survived. Taehyung survived.

The team survived.

He was a free man, dammit.

But the pang of fear still crept across his skin— Not because he feared death. Not anymore.

This time, it was just a feeling.

A gut-deep sense that something was about to go bad.

Maybe it had just been way too long since Yoongi had seen Romeo. His lifelong best friend. The one who had saved him from himself more times than Yoongi could ever count. A man he once considered the most–and only–trustworthy person in his life.

He couldn't even think about it clearly. Having to actually confront him.

Ideally, Romeo had been his enemy for quite a while now; that was a known fact. He'd gotten used to the idea. He'd taken the news of the betrayal surprisingly well, considering everything.

But Yoongi hadn't had the chance to face this man, his childhood best friend, his brother, face-to-face, not since the silent war had been declared between them.

Perhaps he wasn't ready.

Maybe, somewhere deep down, his memories and feelings still didn't want to let go of the past, of what he believed his best friend to be.

He didn't really want to face the monster Romeo had become.

In a way, it was sad. Devastating. Brutal.

This time, Yoongi cared, and it hurt a bit.

The feeling he'd got was unsettling.

Today's mission was unlike anything Yoongi had experienced before. He figured he might as well get used to the feeling, the feeling of actually having a team he could trust behind him. No second thoughts. No more regrets. No more secrets.

He felt backed up. He felt powerful, unstoppable, even.

Funny enough, Yoongi had always thought of himself as unstoppable, but not because he was the strongest. It was because he used to have nothing to lose.

He used to not fear death, and that gave him enough strength to keep moving forward, always with his life on the line.

He risked everything with every chance he got, feeding on the thrill, pushing just a little bit further, testing how far he could go. He lived on pure stubbornness and naive determination.

Somehow, he survived.

It was luck. It was instinct. It was the gullible lack of fear. And a lot of all three combined.

But now, things had changed. He had changed.

Yoongi didn't feel like putting his life on the line anymore, not foolishly, at least. And honestly, he didn't really have to, because Jimin's voice in his earpiece gave him a different kind of confidence.
