Chapter 23
Yoongi's pov
6th of April
Infiltrating Jung Dawon's den, or so to speak, her hotel room, wasn't just a simple mission. Planning took days on end, as the team had meticulously gone over every detail a hundred times, alternating action courses based on potential denouements.
The said mission had one goal, and that was to win Dawon over. However, it wasn't going to be an easy task, and the team knew better than to underestimate her. Therefore, for the past three days, the floors of the building have been busy with officers, detectives, and employees, each trying to make sure their part was strictly taken care of.
Fortunately, Officer Jeong-in managed to hack into the Holiday Inn Express Seoul Hotel system pretty quickly and found Dawon's check-out day, which was supposed to be the 8th of April, a Monday.
The infiltration would happen on Sunday.
Yoongi felt at ease being part of the plan. He was involved in strategy creation, and brainstorming was anything but challenging for him. He got to work closely with the detectives and had access to all the information needed, which not only excited him but kept him motivated. Well, maybe the thing that made him excited was rather related to his quick make-up session with Jimin than anything else, but that was a secret not even he would admit to.
It would have been the almost perfect deal if it wasn't for his guilty conscience constantly reminding him of the upcoming events.. Inspector Kim's plan was good, brilliant even, but thinking of the consequences tore him apart.
He didn't want to lie to Jimin again.
Yet here he was, ready to do it.
"Hey, everything's good?" Jimin joined him outside where Yoongi was quietly enjoying his cigarette and basically regretting life decisions. He turned around to face the detective, throwing a lazy smile at him. "Yeah, just a bit tired I suppose."
Even though the situation was anguish and Yoongi's feelings were a mess, it didn't mean that he wasn't enjoying the thrill of it. Each time he looked into Jimin's eyes, Yoongi felt a suspect amount of controversial emotions. Surely, Jimin was very special to him, he was the sweet light that brightened his path, yet, Yoongi stopped denying it long ago, Jimin was also the devil that brought up the nastier and dirtiest thoughts inside Yoongi's mind. With each exchanged look, with each shared breath, the two of them were getting closer to what Yoongi would like to call the 'Holy Grail' of their ultimate love. But what was to come after that?
Devastation, wreckage, leaving nothing behind but regrets and broken hearts.
Yoongi didn't care, not now, not when Jimin was watching him. They were short on time, and with every passing second, Jimin got closer and more quiet, while his breathing increased with expectation. Yoongi could feel his hot breath on his face, but then Jimin took a sharp step back rushing to light his own cigarette, trying to avoid the wind that kept on messing with the flame, a smirk hiding behind his plump lips.
"So, tomorrow's the day, hopefully, Everything will work out so we can proceed with the next step." He said after taking the first drag of the cigarette.
Yoongi hummed in return. Yeah, sure, the mission they were preparing for was important, but what Yoongi was preparing was by far worse and more frightening. Yoongi couldn't even share this fear of his with Jimin, because the said fear had, in fact, nothing to do with the mission itself, but with the consequences, with the possibility of him losing Jimin, for good.
