Yoongi's pov
|22nd of November 2018|
"Yoongi hyung, what do you think about this? The program?" Yoongi's younger brother asked him with excitement in his voice, an excitement that Yoongi didn't like one bit. He didn't like it because the emotion written on his brother's face conveyed that he was ready to enter the world of danger, a world of death and uncertainty, a world where once you get in, there's no way out.
All of this, and for what? That was exactly why Yoongi didn't like Jungkook. It was Jungkook's idea and it was plain as the nose on your face that he didn't think of the consequences at all.
Yoongi puffed from his cigarette, facing his computer, avoiding making eye-contact with the younger. "It's too dangerous." It was ridiculous, why would he accept something like that.
"Come one, Yoongi! We should help Jungkook! I know it's dangerous, but I can't just watch everything crumble into pieces, especially not when we are responsible for it." Shortcake explained with conviction.
Yoongi finished his cigarette, taking his time to form a proper answer for his brother. He deserved to know why he was against their plan. "Look, you want to help Jungkook., you have good intentions, but Jungkook thinks and acts like a child, like a spoiled brat that has nothing to lose. We came here, in the US, to participate in this CIA project to learn, to gain some personal development, to make good money to help our family, not to destroy our lives. We are powerless, Shortcake, we don't have the power to change the world, just... we should let it be." He turned his back to his desk, inspecting a golden apple. "You should stay out of stuff that might get you killed." He threw the apple towards his brother, offering a shy smile. "Go back to your work. And eat this, you look like you lost some weight."
The younger's expression changed visibly, obviously not liking Yoongi's answer. He closed his eyes, probably counting till 10 to not lose his temper as Yoongi taught him, and sighed. "I didn't ask for your permission, Yoongi. I came here to ask for your help because I trust you and your abilities, but I am not a child anymore. Actually, I am tired of you acting like you still have to protect me. I want your cooperation, not protection, I am old enough to make my own decisions."
"I see." Yoongi nodded calmly, forming a thin line with his lips. "Well, I told you my point of view. You two are not getting my help."
His brother kept his gaze for a few seconds, staring right through Yoongi like he could read his mind. "Fine." He turned around and smashed the door behind, leaving the room in a hurry.
Yoongi watched him leave, and after the door was finally closed he smashed the pack of cigarettes against his desk. "Goddamit!"
Yoongi tried to understand, Yoongi tried to resonate with him, he tried to and wanted to, but no matter how long he would think of it, he couldn't understand why the two boys wanted to do something so dangerous for the sake of others.
How would Yoongi benefit from that?
There was not a single reason for him to get into something like that.
There was no way he would agree.
Yet, after a couple of minutes, he called Jungkook to his office, not exactly knowing why, but needing to know more, without giving his brother false hope.
