Jimin's pov
|25th of April|
Jimin was looking attentively from his hidden spot, waiting for Yoongi to stop with the rambling and just finish the game without touching the poisoned liquid. The poisoned liquid that could potentially kill either him or the enemy that they also desperately needed to interrogate. One second of distraction could cost them not only their lives but also the entire operation- and yes, the priorities were set in that exact order.
His attention slipped for just a moment, a mere second of distraction, as he caught sight of Yoongi taking a swig from the damned glass.
That was not expected, not part of the plan. Yoongi was not supposed to drink. He was not supposed to actually play the game.
His mind went instantly blank.
Yoongi wasn't supposed to be drinking from that glass!
No matter who took the poison-infused drink, it wasn't part of the plan. Jimin needed them both unharmed and breathing. He might not have been in cahoots with Yoongi, but his alliance was with Seokjin, and he had a clear understanding of how things were meant to unfold.
His heartbeat increased with the speed of light; he didn't think twice. He just knew he had to intervene.
He drew his gun, grateful for his sharp reflexes, and fired. The sound rendered their ears deaf for a mere second, and Jimin could see the bullet travel through the air in slow motion, breath held back, as he waited for it to reach its target without ruining the entire plan.
The bullet didn't get stuck in the man's calf but did enough damage to put him to the ground, confused and in pain.
Yoongi's face was not only puzzled but frightened, joined by a faint hint of anger. His brows furrowed, curiosity evident in his drawn-in eyes.
"Why didn't you let me finish?" He asked Jimin demandingly. He looked like he wasn't having it. None of it.
But Jimin wasn't having it either..
"Are you out of your mind Yoongi? That wasn't the plan. You don't touch the drink." Jimin said sternly, slowly walking closer to him, revealing his hideout.
"W-wait," Yoongi signaled to Jimin, motioning for him to stay put, then he approached the man, crouching down to ask him something.
All that Jimin could hear was "I don't break my promises" before the man whispered something in Yoongi's ear. After that, Yoongi nodded and kept on staring at the man. The medical team rushed to take him in and make sure the poison would not kill the man.
"What did he say?" Jimin approached them, his demeanor a mix of curiosity and perhaps a hint of hurt.
Yoongi continued to shake his head, his expression contemplative as he mulled over possibilities.
"Yoongi?"
Yoongi turned to Jimin and gently took his hand, guiding it to his chest, where his heart beat erratically, pumping blood chaotically. "Thanks for being here for me Jimin, but I needed to know if I won the game or not."
Jimin sighed. "We... we were going to check the drinks anyway."
"Yeah, but ... I promised him I wouldn't cheat." He leaned into Jimin's space, nosing his face against Jimin's cheek, a sign of relief, Yoongi finally knew it was over, at least for now.
