Ashley Shepard, Forgotten Hero

Chapter 1

(If you don't know anything about Mass Effect there are two websites in the chapter, here is a website that has a website that explains the characters and one that tells the story line of each game.)

Garrus, Tali and I walked down the hallway with our guns out. I see a control center at the end of the hallway and I run towards it, "Shepard what is it?" My boyfriend Garrus asks me.

"I don't kno, let's ask the VI." I click the button and an asari VI appears.

"Scanning, Commander Kathryn Dawn Shepard. Access to information granted, ask any questions." I shake of my shock and begin my questioning.

"How old is this place?"

"This place was constructed after the first war."

What?

"What is the first war?"

"The first war was the first war between all species of all the galaxies, the human race was almost wiped out but they were saved." I don't know about this war.

"Who saved out race?"

"Ashley Shepard, age fourteen and put into cyro right after. She is still here and you may have access to her, no brain or physical brain damage has affect the commander." I just stare at the VI, I can't believe that a girl is still alive after being in cyro for that long.

"I want to see her, and is it possible for me to take her out of cyro?"

"Yes and yes, please stand by as I open the door."

A door to the side opens and my squad and I go through as I hear rusted gears click and Tali catches the girl as she fall out of the chamber. When she opens her eyes they fill with fear.

"AHHHHH! GET AWAY FROM ME! GET OFF OF ME!" she screams as she fights her way out of Tali's grip. I don't see any biotic implants but my whole squad and I shoot backwards.

"We aren't going to hurt you, calm down please Ashley. I'm Commander Shepard, you're Ashley Shepard." She stops glowing and stares at me.

"No, my mom is Commander Shepard. How do you know my name and why are you working with Turians and Quarians? They'll kill all of us!"

She starts to glow again and I grab her, I have a sedative on me and I give it to her. She collapses into my arms and I turn I my squad.

"Lets move out guys, we came to search and we found something. Joker I'm going to need the med bay ready the second we get on board, and no, none of my squad is hurt."

I carry Ashley out to the Normandy and I hand her over to the doc and I head up to my cabin. "Can I come in Shepard?"

"Ya, come in." I open my terminal and search for the first war. Nothing comes up, only the first contact war and I sigh in frustration. "Nothing Garrus, nothing. It's like it never happened, and I'm not even sure if it did."

He pulls me away from the computer and we sit on my love seat, "Shepard don't worry about it, Ashley will tell us about it." I feel small tears run down my cheek as I think of my late friend Ashley, I can't believe I didn't save her.

I can't believe that I couldn't save her and Kaiden, I feel the tears flow freely. "Shepard, Kathryn, I know you're thinking of Ash but don't blame yourself."

"It's hard not to, if I hadn't split up the team and we had stayed together......" I stop talking. "Commander that girl you brought on board is awake and is freaking out if she sees any species other than human," Joker tells me through the intercom.

"Probably because of that damn war she went through, Garrus don't try to scare her." I walk down to the med bay and I see Ashley curled into a ball in the corner of the room.

"Put those guns away, you'll scare her more." The crew puts the guns away and I walk over to her. "You'll be ok, I promise."

"Where's Zaria? Where's Julia? Where's Kaiden?" She's obviously talking about people from her own time but its weird that someone she knew was named Kaiden.

"I don't know, but why don't you tell me why you don't like Turrians and Quarians? Do you like Asari?"

Tears run down her face and she whispers to me.

"They killed everyone, my mum, my dad, David. The asari saved me, the others hurt me."

"They won't hurt you anymore, I promise. Do you want to meet a Turrian who is nice?" She shook her head at first but then she nodded her head.

"Hold on girlie, you'll need a translator. It might hurt a tiny bit, hold still." I used my omni-tool to put the translator in her brain and then I called Garrus in. At first she didn't look him in the eye but after five minutes she did.

"Shepard we- who is the girl?" Liara enters the med bay and looks at the tiny girl. "Zaria?"

"No, I am Liara T'Soni." I see her face fall, but in a split second she stands up and hugs Liara. "Any descendant of Zaria is a friend of mine." She smiles at my friend and I shrug my shoulders when she looks at me.

"Commander we can't have this little girl on board when we go to Ilos, she is only fourteen." She stands up and turns to us.

"I may be young but I saved earth with the help of my friends from the other races, I was, am the first human biotic without anything fancy added. I can handle myself!" We all looked at each other and at the same time said, "Absolutely not!"

"Why not! Let me prove myself!" I can't take it anymore.

"Fine!" She smiled and skipped out of the room but ran back in when she saw Wrex and Tali. "Ya, they won't hurt you Ashley." She cautiously walked out again and I sighed, I hope she doesn't get us killed.

Ok, pretend that their was a first contact war before the actual first contact war. Oh and BioWare owns everything except Ashley, and the forgotten war.
