Here is a website to explain about the characters, also, please don't be mad as I start to loose some of the characters due to the war. It is, well part of the actual game. I lost like 15 people without a choice like in Mass Effect 3, we are in Mass Effect three now.

Ok chapters one to part of chapter three is in the first game, the rest of chapter 3 and then four takes place between Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2. Now chapters 5-14 take place during Mass Effect 2 and all chapters after 15 takes place in the last game.

Again I am so sorry about the format problem, :( I hope I find a way to fix it.
