Emilia
I called Luke and I told him I'll take the job, but I had to put in a two week notice at my current job.

I was nervous, I was about to tell Antonio I would no longer be working for him. I've been here for a while and I do like everyone here. Except for Julie, but she's gone.

I knocked on the open office door. He looked up at me, smiling. "Hey Emilia! I thought I gave you the day off?" Antonio chuckled.

I smiled, but it slowly dropped. "I-I know.." I trailed off and walked in the room.

He frowned. "Is everything okay?" he asked.

"Um.. I'm giving you my two week notice," I said. Then I instantly regret it. What was I thinking? I love this job, I don't want to go to a complete new location.

"Oh, okay." He said.

"I'm sorry. Forget what I said. It was stupid of me, you're a really good boss. I love my schedule, I know everyone here." I let the amount of money Luke offered me get the best of me.

"How come? Have you applied for another?" he asked.

"No.. I was offered another," I answered.

"Well what did you like about it? What made you want to take it? Maybe those things could be changed here," he said. See what I mean? Good boss. Despite the constant hitting on me, he was a good boss.

It was embarrassing because the only thing that made me consider a job at Luke's company was the money.

I shook my head. "It's nothing. I promise, I'm not going to quit. I like it here, everything's fine." I said.

"Is it the pay?" he asked.

I furrowed my eyebrows. "That was the only thing you didn't mention when you were listing why you changed your mind about the new job."

"Oh, no, the pay here is fine." I said.

"Please tell me what it is that made you want the job, Emilia. I promise I can make it happen," he pleaded.

"It's embarrassing.." I mumbled.

"I won't judge, I don't judge." He assured me.

I let out a sigh. "He offered me five grand a week. I promise, the pay here is fine. I just moved out and I'm living alone now and more money wouldn't hurt, that's all." I admitted.

He nodded. "How about six thousand a week? You're schedule could stay the exact same. You're the best assistant I've ever had. You're the only assistant that's been able to handle my clients and sales, you're hardworking, you're organized, you're never late, you barely ever call in sick, I never get any trouble out of you. Should I go on?" he finished.

I chuckled as I looked to the floor. I looked back up at him. "Are you sure, Antonio? I told you the pay here is fine, I'm staying."

He nodded. "And I believe you, but you deserve it. Now go enjoy your day off," he dismissed me.

I smiled.

I walked over behind his desk and hugged him. "Thanks Antonio," I said.

"No problem, Emilia. You said you moved out? Are you not with your boyfriend anymore?" he asked.

I shook my head. "No, turns out he was cheating. With Julie, actually." I mumbled.

"Well it's good she doesn't work here anymore. I don't see who would cheat on you," he mumbled.

"Bye, Antonio." I said and left.

I took a spoon of my ice cream, my eyes widened as it was swiftly removed from my hands. He grabbed the spoon out of my mouth.
