The bright church doors basically called my name as I walked towards them. I read the sigh in front of the doors, and the church had set times. The sign did say that anyone could visit to discuss things.
I smiled, and pushed through the doors. The doors were light, considering their massive size. They creaked as they slowly moved, and slammed shut once I entered the church. Once I was fully inside, I realized just how big this building was.
The massive pillars towered over me, and the pews were the smallest things in the room, able to sit me normally. A large pink cross was placed on the farthest wall directly across from me. Light was shined through window in the ceiling, and you could see dust floating in the air. The dust added to the atmosphere, and if anything, made the area prettier.
"Woah.." I quickly said to myself. I heard a pair of heels clicking against the marble ground, and someone came into view. It seemed to be a woman. Her face was colored to look like Neapolitan Ice-cream, and she wore a dark pink outfit, along with a veil placed at the back of her head. Her eyes were a plain white, and she wore a small kind smile.
"Hello there! Have you come to join the church?" She cheerfully asked? The room seemed to brighten as she got more excited. Her heels clicked against the ground, and she walked over to me, now standing in front of me. She towered over me as well. She must have been at least 7 feet tall.
"Y-Yes Ma'am." I spoke quietly. The room made my voice echo, and the woman nodded. She shut her eyes with a bright smile, and held a hand out to me.
"Wonderful! Let me show you around my church!" Her eyes shot back open, and I took a hold of her hand. He gently and slowly pulled me alone, considering our size difference, and she ground me to the front of the church.
"From this angle, you can see the entire church." She spoke harmonically. Everything this woman has said so far sounded so genuine and cheerful, that it gave me hope. Hope for the town, and hope in general.
I loud crash came from the right, where I saw a door. The woman sighed, bringing me with her as we walked to the door. She turned the handle, opened the door, bringing me through it as well. Someone in all gray and black stood in the kitchen looking room in front of us. The nun woman turned around to face the man, who was giving me an annoyed expression.
"Ruv..what are you trying to do?" The woman asked softly. The man dropped the pan on the table, and groaned, turning away from the woman. I frowned, and looked up to her. She continued to stare at this 'Ruv' man.
"Sarv. Who is that?" He pointed at me. I turned to him quickly. I stood a bit frightened in the room. Two people that could probably crush me stood in front of me, and I was sure one of them didn't like me.
"Oh! Them? This is uh-" She kneeled down to me, and whispered to me. "What's your name?" She stood back up a bit, clearly in an uncomfortable pose.
"Oh. I'm Y/N."
"This is Y/N! They are joining the church!" She exclaimed happily. I smiled and waved to the man. He scoffed, and turned away from the two of us. I frowned a bit, and brought my hand back down to my side.
Ruv gave Sarv an annoyed look, and walked out of the room, looking back at her. She sighed, and followed behind him slowly. "Please wait here Y/N". She called to me. "Didn't plan on going anywhere." I responded. I chuckled, and Sarv gave a nervous giggle. She shut the door behind her and the two were gone.
I crept up to the door to listen in on them, out of curiosity. I could help it, but it was just too tempting to ignore at the moment. These two seemed very interesting. I pressed my ear to the door, and listened quietly.
"Сарв. Почему ты впустип их? (Sarv. Why did you let them in?)" The voice sounded like Ruv's. The man was clearly Russian, thanks to his noticeable thick Russian accent that was present.
"Они кажутся искренне добрыми, Рув! Почему вы так пахраноидально относитесь к маленькому человеку?! (They seem genuinely kind Ruv! Why are you so paranoid about a small human?!)" The lighter voice was Sarvente's. She sounded distressed, and it made me frown.
"Не недооценивайте никого. Даже не такой маленький. (Don't underestimate anyone. Not even anyone that small.)" Ruv sounded annoyed and angry. His voice sent chills down my spine everyone he talked.
"Да, Рув, я понимаю но..(Yes Ruv, I understand that but..)" Sarvente seemed to stop her sentence short. I frowned, and waited for the next person to speak. I might not have been able to understand them, but I can hear their tones.
"Нам нужна лишняя пара рук! Это может быть хорошо для нас обоих, кто знает? (We need an extra pair of hands! This could be good for the both of us, who knows?)" Sarv spoke with panic. She seemed stressed, and upset. Really upset.
Ruv sighed. "Отлично. Если они причинили тебе боль, то они ушли. (Fine. If they hurt you, then they're gone.)" Ruv sounded extremely serious. I bit the inside of my mouth, backing away from the door as I heard Sarv's heals clicking against the ground.
Sarvente opened the door with a small smile on her face. Ruv followed behind her, slumped over with his hands in his pockets. He still held his annoyed expression as he walked past me.
"Great news Y/N! You'll be staying here for a bit to decided if you are worthy!" Sarvente's grin widened. It wasn't a happy one, it was more sadistic, and mischievous. Ruv was about to exit the room before he heard Sarvente speak. He whipped his head around, and held a surprised and annoyed expression.
"Ты шутишь, что ли?.. (Are you kidding me?)" Ruv spoke. I didn't understand what he said obviously. I'm sure that me not being able to understand nor speak Russian would come in handy when the two needed to discuss something important, or about me. The last option I hoped was positive.
"No, Ruv, I am not kidding you." Sarvente smiled at Ruv. He furrowed his eyebrows and walked out of the room, mumbling something to himself that wasn't understandable. I let out a shaky sigh and turned back to Sarvente.
"Small problem.. I just moved here a few days ago. I would still have to pay rent at my apartment." I crossed my arms. Sarvente looked down at me. She tapped her chin, clearly thinking about something.
"The answer to that would be simple. We move your stuff here, and you move out. I'm sure Ruv will warm up to your eventually!" Sarv held her hands together in front of her, swaying back and forth. While it was a simple answer, it wasn't what I was expecting. It wasn't even the best idea, but it was all that I could do.
I sighed, and looked up at the woman. "Or, I could continue to just pay the rent, and spend the nights here." I chuckled. Sarvente stood for a second, thinking, then coming to the conclusion that that would indeed, be the best option.
"Yeah.. I guess that would be the best.. Then it's settled! Welcome to the church Y/N!" Sarvente gave me a hug. It was more of her just picking me up, but it worked. I smiled, and hugged her back. I heard someone yell from the other room, and so did Sarvente. She sighed, and placed me down, walking into the room Ruv went into, leaving me alone in the kitchen.
