Growing Up For Her

'O, Moon!'

I called from my window.

'Can you see her right now?'

'Yes, I can see her,'

Moon replied in soft twinkles.

'What does she look like?

E'en her eyes would do.'

'I'm not telling you

anything 'bout her looks,'

Moon replied,

'she's your soulmate.

You'll meet her eventually.'

'No, Moon, you don't get it!'

I dropped some ink on my canvas.

'It's the same as you and Sun;

so close, but meant to be apart.'

A deathly silence cut the night.

'Can you tell her name, at least?'

Moon splashed in my rheumy eyes.

'If I tell you that, you will

love her like fire loves wood,'

Moon shined upon my face,

'and you'll see nothing but

her name e'en in every blink.

You'll throw away the future

that was meant for you and her

in a blind abyss of this

double-edged emotion:

love.'

'Why do you hold such animosity

towards me?'

I dug my fingers till blood dripped

like a hollow creek to vent my anger.

'Is it wrong to love someone

who's to be a part of me?'

'You must wait, my little star,'

Moon's voice soothed my heart,

'she's too waiting for you.

Go ahead and build her stairs

made of rose and walls of silk,

and gift her your honey words

wrapped in a kiss.

You must grow worthy to be loved,

my star.

Earn her with proud by claiming all the stars,

and not as a beggar that asks for love from door to door.

I have known you for long,

pure is your soul, and loving is your heart.

Just wait a little more, my dear.'

That night I realised the words of Moon

hold meaning beyond the reach of light.

I must claim her and be

a man she smiled at proudly.
