[saturday afternoon]

"What the hell?? NO way. No," I back away from Sunwoo.

We're standing in the school underground parking lot where his car is parked, waiting for the rest of our friends to meet us here.

"What do you mean 'no'?? We're just driving what's the big deal?" Sunwoo crosses his arms, he's aloud to look annoyed since it's just us so far.

"I just- I don't like car rides."

"You're so pathetic! Jesus. Just don't come with us then, that would be a win win!" Sunwoo throws his hands up.

i'm starting to regret feeling sorry for him.

"Fine! I won't," I turn around and begin walking away when Jacob, Chanhee, and Jia enter the parking lot.

"Hey where are you going?" Jacob asks.

"She refuses to take the car," Sunwoo says. In a tone that confirms all the people here know about the real him.

"Shut up." I snap at him.

"Ah," Jacob says, remembering the car crash story. "We want you to come with us, but if you can't then don't feel pressured to."

"Yeah just decide already." Sunwoo grumbles.

"Geez give her a break." Jia says, to my surprise.

Sunwoo falters for a moment, remembering their 'argument' the other day.

Chanhee and Jia join Sunwoo by the car and they talk while Jacob takes my hands in his.

"Have you really never taken a car since then?" Jacob asks softly.

"Only once or twice and I had to get out halfway," I scoff. "I prefer walking or bike riding,"

"That's pretty impressive." Jacob grins. "But hey, the movie theatre is only three miles away and it's a really straight road I promise. Sunwoo's a surprisingly good driver. And I'll sit right next to you,"

"Well when you put it like that," I say. It would just be pathetic if I chickened out of a three mile car ride.

"Yay!" Jacob grins and we walk to the car.

"finally." Sunwoo says, hopping in the drivers seat.

"Chanhee you sit in the front," Jia says, avoiding Sunwoo at all costs.

Chanhee looks from Sunwoo to Jia confusedly but he does.

"Window seat or middle?" jacob asks.

"Which one am I less likely to die?" I ask.

"I'm pretty sure the middle seat is the safest," Jia tells me, applying lip gloss to her perfect lips. Her voice is confident and surprisingly calming for some reason. I don't know why she's helping me when she doesn't even know what's wrong, but I find myself wanting to be friends with Jia.

I clear my throat before sitting in the middle between Jia and Jacob.

"What movie are we watching again?" Chanhee asks as Sunwoo starts up the car.
