Sometimes, it feels as though time would never stop and everyone around you would eventually forget you ever existed. There were always those moments where we could never expect to receive a helping hand. No one would dare raise their expectations that easily, no. But to the Madrigals' surprise, the whole town came unannounced with construction supplies and food, openly helping them without a second thought.

Everyone volunteered, so we all came to aid the family in rebuilding their house. It was cruel to leave them to themselves when they've been helping everyone with their gifts for years. Even as someone who had been insulted by Alma, well, you had to help your best friends. Besides, you didn't want to be left alone in the town to clean up the buildings by yourself.

Thus, the workload was distributed by none other than Mirabel. She was a natural leader, she was giving orders and tasks evenly based on one's capacity and capabilities. If anything, she was doing a great job.

You? You were tasked with handing out drinks and snacks for everyone. As much as you wanted to help with the construction and cleaning, Mirabel was persistent in giving you menial tasks as you had an injury.

"Señor Esteban, care for an empanada?" Holding a large bowl full of freshly made snacks, you ask the man who was busy with stabilizing the wooden frames for the roof.

The man smiled at you and beckoned you over. "Sure, my pals over here would like a time off."

It was day three of rebuilding La Casa Madrigal. The speed of work was surprisingly fast given the amount of people that volunteered to help with the progress. Camilo was off cleaning the inside with his sister, Dolores. So you couldn't really stick with him for longer periods of time, he was really devoted to his work(given that his sister and mother kept flicking his forehead when he complained).

You climbed up the ladder and the workers made their way towards you, making sure your balance wasn't disrupted as they held your hand as you sat on the side.

"Do you guys want any drinks?"

They all shared the same answer and shouted in unison a grand 'yes' before laughing amongst themselves. You could only respond with a light giggle before heading down carefully.

Everyone was extremely busy but they never failed to find a bright side to things. Take for example Luisa, she hasn't been able to lift a pile of bricks like she used to but Isabela was there to remind her that she didn't need to force herself, after this whole thing you're pretty sure Luisa's going to get some good time off. Even if they lasted until nightfall, they still went home laughing and smiling.

Where do the Madrigals sleep in the meantime? Well, you and Diego volunteered. Mirabel's family stayed at the Diaz house while Camilo's stayed at yours. It was a nice time to get acquainted with the family, plus, your house was getting a bit lonely at times. At least you had Antonio to snuggle with.

Knowing that everyone was doing their part passionately, you just had to put in the extra effort and keep up with the bright atmosphere. So, without anyone's knowledge, you practiced your smile outside before offering refreshments to Bruno's group who was handling the garden duty for today.

Holding the large bowl in your hands, you faced the forest making sure no one saw your figure as you stuck to the side.

Your lips formed a smile as you practiced a greeting. And another. And another. And another. This was hard without a mirror, honestly.

"Calm down, your teeth might fall off," A jesting voice from beside you caught you off guard. Your balance faltered, causing you to lose control of where you stepped as a rock sent a sharp pang underneath the sole of your foot. It didn't cause any injury, just pressure strong enough to cause stimuli for you to fall forwards.
