Sofia's POV

Fez turned off the AC after about 5 minutes of us driving around. I wasn't really sure where we were going, and I was too drunk to care. There was a silence in the car, but it wasn't awkward. Just comfortable, a little R&B playing low on his radio for background noise. Whatever he's doing, he's good at it. Maybe he's not doing anything and I'm just drunk.

"You know... I wasn't trying to kill your buzz or anything, but I still don't know where you live" he says, looking over at me. A small smile grows on my face and I tell him where I live after realizing that we were driving without a destination. He puts my address into his GPS and it says we're in for a smooth 10 minute ride. He lights a big backwood he has already rolled at the party for himself and doesn't bother passing it to me considering how wasted I already am.

"Fez is a really interesting name... It can't be your real name" I make conversation with him. "My name is Fezco, folks just call me Fez for short." he explains. "Fezco... thats an even better name. You don't meet a lot of people named Fezco." I tell him. "Oh really? I know a couple." he says jokingly. "Wait, seriously?" I ask, looking over at him. His smile... mmm.

"Nah, I'm messin with you. I've only ever met me." he says. "Yeah, me too." I say mindlessly. He continues driving, looking at me every now and then. "You know... Rue mentioned you before in a conversation now that I think about it. She was right about what she said." he mumbled the last part before making a turn. "Oh really. What was that?" I ask. "She said you and your sister are 2 of the prettiest girls she'd ever met." he said.

"Yeah, this outfit is actually from my sister's closet. She does the whole dressing up thing better than I do." I ramble on, feeling the material of Maddy's jacket between my fingers. "I don't think I saw your sister." he added. My face started to heat up again, realizing that he was agreeing with what Rue said and indirectly calling me pretty. This made me smile. The smile faded quickly at the topic of my sister being brought up.

"Yeah, I hope she's alright. She was the girl in the pool making out with that guy." I told him. "I wasn't really paying attention to her." he stated again, looking at me. "I was paying more attention to you." he added. Is he flirting with me?

"Yeah... It's kind of hard not to, I guess. Being sloppy drunk and all that." I say to him. "You're not sloppy. Just drunk. And to be honest with you... I didn't think I'd see a girl like you at a party like that."

"A girl like me?" I say in a joking voice, looking over at him with a grin on my face. "Yeah, you know. You're put together real nice, not dressed like a hooker, stay to yourself. I mean, you don't need to do too much to have my attention to begin with." he says smoothly, taking another hit of his backwood before diverting his attention back to the road.

He has a seemingly straight face when he speaks to me, making it hard to tell if it's a genuine compliment or his way of flirting. I'm not good at telling the difference, considering my boyfriend never flirts with me anymore unless we're in front of an audience.

"Fez?" I ask, catching his attention once more. "What's up?" he says, looking over at me. "Thank you" I say, keeping my eyes on him. "For what?" he asks seriously. "Thank you for taking me home." I finish my sentence. "What did you think I was just gonna leave you there like that?" he asks me. "I mean... Yeah. Anybody else would have done the same thing." I explain. "I'm not anybody else." he says, ending that conversation.

We drive past the candle shop I used to visit all the time when I was a kid. "I miss that place... haven't been there in years." I tell him. He looks out the window and his eyes land on the shop. "That candle place?" he asks curiously. "Yeah, my mom used to bring me there all the time when she was buying gifts on a holiday or someone's birthday. I would stand in there and sniff as many candles as I could before she decided that it was time to leave. Sometimes I would give myself a headache." I explain. He chuckles and shakes his head.
