Sofia's POV
Once that hour mark rolled around, I checked my phone to see that Fez had already texted me. I smiled and continued spraying my perfume, making sure everything about me was up to par. Getting ready to see Fez was refreshing, and honestly exciting. It doesn't feel forced or anything. I used to feel this way in the beginning of me and Devin's relationship, but when he started treating me like shit, getting ready for him felt more like a chore than anything.
He pulled up to my house and made a big deal about how good I looked, making me smile the entire ride. We immediately stopped at the corner store where he works, because he forgot to pick up blunts. I saw Kat walk out through the back with some money in her hand, Ashtray closing the door behind her and walking outside to spark a cigarette. Probably still doing that Bitcoin thing. I looked through the glass and saw somebody behind the counter, taking his shift.
Fez came out back shortly after with a few packs of backwoods in his hand, quickly saying hi to Ashtray before he got back in the front seat. "So, where to?" I ask him with a smile on my face. "Well, there is this one place you mentioned before. I thought maybe you'd like to go there first." he told me, pulling out of the parking lot. "There is?" I asked. "You know, sometimes I think I pay more attention to our conversations than you do." he mentions. "Yeah, you're probably right." I respond.
I began rolling the wood with the weed he had brought for us while he flipped through the radio, finding some music for us to listen to. "Actually, I burned this CD a while back. I think you'd like the tracks on here as much as I do." he tells me before popping it into the slide.
Track 1 // Eminem - The Real Slim Shady
"Oh fuck yeah" I said as soon as I heard the intro. "I repeat, will the slim shady please stand up" I start. He turns to me and continues the lyric. "We're gonna have a problem here" I smile and he continues rapping the song.
I finished rolling the blunt halfway through the song and continued rapping the lyrics. "I'm slim shady yes I'm the real shady all you other slim shadys are just imitating so won't the real slim shady please stand up please stand up please stand up" I spark the blunt and look over to see him laughing. "You must really fuck with this song" he says. "Who doesn't?" I ask him seriously, coughing as I take the first hit.
"You gotta put that out though, we'll smoke in a little bit we about the be there real soon." he tells me. I take another hit and put it out, turning the volume down as he parks the car. "No way" I mumbled, looking up at the place we pulled into. "You remembered?" I ask him sweetly, looking over at him. "Of course I remembered. You were talkin about this place the first time I met you." he reminds me.
I think back to our car ride together from the night of the party
We drive past the candle shop I used to visit all the time when I was a kid. "I miss that place... haven't been there in years." I tell him. He looks out the window and his eyes land on the shop. "That candle place?" he asks curiously. "Yeah, my mom used to bring me there all the time when she was buying gifts on a holiday or someone's birthday. I would stand in there and sniff as many candles as I could before she decided that it was time to leave. Sometimes I would give myself a headache." I explain. He chuckles and shakes his head.
"Come on, don't just sit there we finna go inside" he says with a small smile. I get out of the car and follow behind him. I decide to slip my hand into his, holding it tightly. I've never really shown Fez affection in public before, but he seemed to like it. I saw his cheeks turn red and a small smile creep up on his face. Once we reached the door, I let go of his hand and he immediately held the door open for me, allowing me to walk inside first.
