Chapter 5

Sofia's POV

"You like the way that feels?" Mouse asks Rue, who was sprawled out on the couch. Unable to move. This situation is scary. "yeaa" she slurs her words in response. "You want a couple of patches girl?" he asks her and she responds with "Uhh... ok."

He puts the patches on her thigh, making my heart rate speed up. "Thats gonna cost you 300" Mouse says with an evil smirk on his face as he looks directly up at Fez. Rue moaned in response. "Come on, pay up lil sis." he insisted. I know what he's doing. "I only have $2" she says quietly, chuckling under her breath as she zones out with her eyes closed. "I said 300" he said again, running his finger across her thigh.

Fez makes eye contact with me and I give him an apologetic look, keeping my mouth shut like he told me to. "Where are my pants?" Rue asks. "I'll just give it back" she says to Mouse, slowly opening her eyes.

"I got a strict no return policy" he says to her.

"Yo Mouse, let me pay for it man." Fez speaks up. "I thought you was too good for fentanyl" he presses. "What is it? Everybody's changing their motherfuckin minds on me." Fez slowly reaches for the gun again as he runs his hand down her thigh. "If she can't afford it she gonna have to find another way of paying me" he finishes.

"Yo man just let me pay for it" Fez says, reaching into his pocket and standing up to hand him the money "I got the money right here" Mouse snatches the cash from his hand. "Damn, big brother must love you. It's gonna cost you 600 now man." he says.

"Damn, you gonna do me like that bruh?" Fez asks. I wish we never came here. "Yeah, imma do you like that straight up" Mouse responds as he counts the cash after Fez hands it to him. "Its always a pleasure doing business with you" he says before leaving, along with his weird drug dealer friends that came with him. He gave me one last disgusting look before shutting the door behind him.

Fez stands up and walks over to Ash, handing him the drug. "Go flush that shit down the toilet, and grab the Narcan just in case" Fez tells him. He walks back over to the couch and I stand up immediately to help him put the blanket over Rue. I look up at him and apologize.

"Fez, I shouldn't have just agreed to come here with her like that. I didn't think that this would happen." He sighed and looked at me in disappointment. "Look, you guys can't be doing shit like that. When I said I had drinks for you, I didn't mean for you to come here today and be exposed to all that stuff that just went down. If anyone should know better, it's Rue and I'm really pissed off that she brought you over here at such a bad time." he said honestly. He sat down on his chair and put his head in his hands after taking 1 long look at Rue.

"Fez, none of this is your fault. What happened to Rue happened because of us deciding to come here without letting you know first." I explained. "Yeah, well it still happened." he responded in a negative tone.

I can't blame him for being so pessimistic, he just lost 600 bucks trying to make sure that our friend stayed safe. "Look, if you wanna go you can feel free to leave, I'm just gonna look after Rue. I don't expect you to wanna come back here after all that stuff went down anyway" he told me with a saddened look on his face.

"I'm not leaving" I told him, slowly walking over to him. "I'm gonna stay here as long as you need me to and help look after our friend, it's the least I can do so you can go back to whatever you were doing before we came here." I finished. He looked up at me a bit surprised. "Are you sure you wanna stick around after all that just went down? If I were in your shoes I'd be running away" he chuckled dryly.

"Fez I'm not leaving. Not unless you make me." I tell him, mindlessly touching his arm. He looked down at my hand and I felt his body relax at my touch. He looked back up and me and I swear in that moment I've never wanted to kiss someone so bad in my entire life, but instead I walked back over to the couch where Rue laid.
