*8 months later*Yeji's POV
"Are you sure it's okay for me to be there?"
I walked up towards her and cupped her face. "Yes," i stole a soft kiss making her pout at me. We're going back to Korea to visit our parents. Ryujin will go home with us to see her family as well.
"I'm still scared at your dad," she said looking worried at me. I held her hands and leaned over to touch her forehead with mine.
"He's the one who invited you," i responded to her.
"Aaaaah-"
"It's okay, baby. I'll be there with you." she gave me a kiss after i reassured her. We stayed embracing each other for more minutes till Hyunjin called outside.
--
We're already inside the private plane my dad owns to fetch us. Ryujin is currently talking with Seulgi while I'm busy peeling a tangerine for her. Should i just feed her too?
"Feed me, Yeddeong-ah~" she says in a child tone making Seulgi unnie hit her arm. I rolled my eyes on her but i still ended up feeding her. For months we're together she became more of a baby than i am to her.
She's just hugging me sideways still talking to unnie. Hyunjin is also busy taking care of his girlfriend. I also ate some of the tangerine since i don't have anything else to do. Ryujin noticed i was just quiet so she turned towards me. Finally.
"Baby, are you sleepy?" i just shook my head. She got up to change position where i am the one leaning on her chest. She plays with my hair and took the tangerine away from me. I thought she's going to feed me but she just started eating them. I closed my eyes to rest for a moment. Just a few hours more till we arrive at Korea.
--
I'm in my room unpacking the remaining things i brought. We arrived here 2 hours ago. Ryujin parted with us earlier to go to her family. I'll be meeting her later for she's also be joining us for dinner. I see that she and Dad are still awkward and cold to each other but i know they're both working on it.
Time passed with just me staying in my room playing in my phone. Hyunjin will randomly barge in just to annoy me and leave. I stood up to get my coat because Ryujin said she's already outside. I checked myself in the mirror before going out. I found her sitting on the ground staring at the pile of snow. She noticed me and a wide smile immediately formed on her lips. I smiled back.
"Why are you so pretty?" she asked acting serious all of a sudden. I just shrugged my shoulders making her giggle.
We went to the mall to just stroll around and buy souvenirs for our friends. We also decided to buy something for dinner. We ended up buying biscuits and champagne. Seeing the champagne brought back lots of memories. It's the same with her because she even teased me about it.
"Remember when you were drunk and kissed me first?"
I just gave her a glare. She's laughing so much about it that i couldn't maintain acting mad. "And they told me you were straight," I can't help but to feel slightly embarrassed. Those days...
"Hmm, maybe you were--but well, you know I'm Shin Ryujin." she said acting so confident. I bursted out laughing when she started posing with the champagne bottle.
"Ya! Stop it Ryuddaeng," she's always so good in teasing me.
The sun is almost set when we arrived at home. Mom is already preparing the table and was so happy to receive our gifts. Dad greeted us and helped mom with her work.
"Hey, I just need to answer this call," i nodded at her as she walked outside the house.
I was enjoying my hot chocolate when i felt like she was taking too long outside. I got up to find her when my phone rang.
"Hwang Yeji, come outside."
"I'm about to--"
"Ah! It broke."
"What?"
She didn't respond and just ended the call. I got a bit worried so i ran fast to see her. I found her sitting again holding the thing we bought earlier. You can make duck-shaped snow with it. She already did a dozen and still making another one.
"They're so cute!" i exclaimed as i ran to her. She let out a giggle and finishes another one putting it beside the others.
"Yeji? Did you know that today is--"
"Today is the day we've met," i said. She was a bit surprised that I've said that first. She's shaking her head while laughing and then spoke, "To be honest, i did not expect you know the date we've met since it wasn't really a good first meeting,"
"Oh yeah, it wasn't good," i responded emphasizing on what happened that night. She continued laughing and tapped my shoulders. "Okay okay,"
"Now pick the 5th one," she said referring to her snow ducks. I picked it up giving her a confused look.
"Squish it." i did what she told me and was surprised with what i touched. She's smiling from eye to eye watching my reaction. It's a ring.
"Ryujin i--"
"That's a promise ring for now. It's to mark the date I've met you in a bar 4 years ago," she let out a chuckle. "And now i have you."
I started tearing up. She immediately pulled me for a hug and caressed my back. She put the ring on my finger and showed hers after I've settle down. We both smiled at each other as we look at our hands. Pretty.
"Next time it will be our wedding ring," she smiled at me and jokingly sang after, "I'd marry you with paper rings~"
And i'm sure that I'd say "yes" when that time comes. Thinking back, our meetings are just accidents brought by fate. From the night I've met her in a bar and from the night I've seen her again at the beach. Is it serendipity? Fate do play with us sometimes.
"Have i ever told you i love you?" i said intensely looking at her eyes.
"No."
"I do."
"Really?" she asked with a grin on her face.
"Always."
