P2: Chapter 7

Yeji's POV

Today is Winter's birthday so we're all going at the hotel. Hyunjin is driving the car. I'm busy retouching my make up while Seulgi unnie is on a phone call. I turned on my phone to take selfies. I feel so pretty tonight wearing white.

We were guided on to the venue. We're both on Hyunjin's side clinging on his arm. It's not that of a big party but there are cameras around to document everything and other people invited. They're Winter's colleagues. I saw my friends on one table and walked towards them. They greeted my unnie as she greeted back with her warm bear smile. Lia then tapped me saying she's shy around her.

"She won't bite," i responded chuckling.

Winter arrived together with Karina welcoming their guests. They're both so beautiful. They waved at us. I'm a bit surprised Karina didn't sit on our table but they chose one beside us. Ningning sat beside her together with Aeri. They just arrived. I'm with Chae, Lia, Yuna and Wonyoung and my siblings for it's only seven per table.

I'm just watching people arrived at the entrance while waiting. I froze for seconds seeing Ryujin and her girlfriend arrive but i managed to look away. Of course, they're Winter's friends.

I kept my head down but i can see and hear my friends greeting them as they sat down on the table beside us. I can feel their stares at me. Seulgi unnie then tapped my arm making me flinch a bit. "Y-yeah?" why am i stuttering?

"Let's go to the comfort room." i just nodded.

Whew, just ignore them Yeji.

Fuck! I wanna go home now.

"I want to eat now," unnie said as she fixes her dress. I just waited for her outside the CR. She let out a chuckle but i just knew that was a fake one. I gave her an awkward smile.

"Unnie--" I'm hesitating to ask her about Ryujin's girlfriend. They've been friends for a long time so I'm guessing she knows about her. I did search up her name when Chaeryeong told me she's a singer. I knew about the terrible accident she was into. But I still don't know how she and Ryujin became a couple.

I heard my unnie take a deep breath. We both started walking back to our table without no one talking. She still doesn't want to talk about Ryujin. Time went on and we all finished eating. I just watched people talk and dance with each other. My friends invited me to go with them to dance floor but i passed. I walked towards the terrace when i saw the people there leave. I want to be alone and feel the night air.  Ah, I've always love the city at night because of all the lights.

I drank the champagne in my glass i brought with me when i felt a presence beside me. She went in with her eyes are closed feeling the cold air outside. 

The wind blew hard making our hairs messy.

"Ugh." she irritatedly said as she brushes her hair back up. Her glance then went towards my direction meeting my eyes. I gulped.

"Uhm, i should leave."

I was about to walk away but she spoke,

"No. Stay here,"

"You got in here first, I'll just leave," she told me with a faint smile on her face.

"Like you always do..." i mumbled wishing she didn't hear it.

"I'm sorry." she said facing me. Awkward silence followed as she took a step closer.

"Yeji, that night i was.."

I reached out my hand at her not letting her finish. I thought i was ready to hear everything from her but it turns out, I'm wrong. I don't know what's gotten into me but I'm thinking it's better to not know at all. I'll just settle with what's here now, just being acquaintances with her. 

"Let's not talk about it anymore... it's okay now." i said reassuring her. She just frowned at me still guilt is seen on her eyes.

"No please let me explain."

"Ryujin, it's been so long. We should just...forget about everything. We were young at that time. We were there for the thrill--" she laughed at me in disbelief i felt a little scared.

"Ah, so everything happened between us was just a game to you that time? Exploring?"

I can feel her frustration hearing her taking deep breaths. She stepped closer again so i stepped back till i couldn't. No one dared to break our eye contact, both teary-eyed.

"Ryujin... there's no 'us' to begin with you know?"

She shook her head refusing to believe I've said that.

"You left before we could even start! I was ready to fight for us..." i couldn't hold myself back anymore. She remained staring at me tears falling from eyes.

"Why?" i feel like i would fall down anytime so i held onto the railings. I'm so weak. I saw her worried but she immediately took back her hand.

"Yeji..."

"Please, just leave. Your girlfriend must be looking for you."

"Please. It'll be bad for her to see us together."

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry."

With that, she left me alone in the terrace. I wiped my tears falling from my cheeks. After a few minutes, someone embraced me from the back. I didn't notice she got in here. It's Lia. I turned to face her letting myself to cry more. I don't care if people see me like this. She just kept caressing my head calming me down.

"Let's go home now," It's Seulgi unnie. I pulled away from Lia and let her take me outside the place. We waited for Hyunjin telling Winter we'll leave. I felt embarrassed seeing some people staring at our direction. We didn't really cause a scene but they see me crying, all intrigued.

We all stopped when we met Ryujin and her girlfriend at the hallway. Seulgi let go of my arm and walked closer to her. We're all left shocked when she slapped Ryujin.

"Seulgi!" Somi shouted at her. She immediately held Ryujin who's still shocked with what happened. "What the hell?!"

Seulgi just ignored Somi. I looked down immediately the moment Somi glanced at my direction.  She looked so confused seeing me like this.

"Stop it, noona." his deep voice was heard in the hall. Seulgi couldn't make her next move. She grabbed both me and Seulgi out of the building. He's had enough.

"Aaaah, fuck." she's also looking down realizing what she's done.

"Noona, is that the reason you came back here earlier?"

Seulgi didn't answer.

"I just couldn't trust her saying she'll not meet Yeji when she comes back. And see? I'm right,"

"What did you say?!" i asked realizing what her statement would've mean. They were in touch.

"Unnie--since when huh?"

She ignored me till we walked to our car. Hyunjin drove right away.

"Okay so you knew where she is, you two are okay again,

And you didn't even tell me?"

"Yeji, I'm sorry."

"I fucking waited for so long, wondering where she is, how she is or if i fucking deserve everything happened...you know what i've been through,"

"You should've just told me, then I know i would've stopped. Fuck it."

Fuck everything.
