as i'm pulling up to zayda's house, she's walking out of the front door. i furrowed my brows as i got out of my car.

"and where are you going?" i asked in a teasing tone as i raised a brow.

"my parents have tasked me with grocery shopping," zay gave a sarcastic smile as she held up a piece of paper, which i assumed was the grocery list.

"well, here, we can go in my car," i wrapped an arm around her shoulders and started walking towards my car.

"you sure? you don't have to come with me," she tried to assure me.

"i want to," i gave a grin as i opened the passenger door for her. "and i'm already here, so why not?"

"okay, fair enough."

i walked around to the driver's side. i got in and started my car back up. i was going to back out of her driveway, but i stopped as i looked at z. i studied her for a moment, and i tilted my head.

"are you okay?" i quizzed softly. "like, you good?"

"huh?" her eyes widened. "yeah, no, i'm fine."

"zay," i said knowingly as i sent her a look.

she let out a sigh. "it's nothing, bil, just... me and lei got into a little argument earlier. it's nothing though."

"it doesn't seem like nothing," i pointed out as i finally backed out of her driveway.

"it was over something stupid. it wasn't even something that should've caused an argument," she started ranting. she looked down at her hands in her lap the whole time. "she just does little things that annoy me. and she has to know they annoy me, 'cause she does it more than once! so, i don't even... she just pisses me off sometimes, you know?"

i never know what to say when she rants about leila like this. i don't want them to work out, because i want to date zay; so i don't wanna give her relationship advice. at the same time though, she's my best friend, so i feel obligated to give her relationship advice.

i dunno, man.

"have you talked to her about it?" i raised a brow. my head jerked to the side after i did.

now? seriously?

"yeah... i just— it's whatever. i don't even wanna talk or think about it right now," she sighed.

"you sure?" i questioned.

"yeah, i'm sure."

"wait, wait," zayda giggled as i pulled out a shopping cart.

"what?" i raised a brow.

she giggled again before climbing into it. i laughed too as she practically collapsed into it. people gave us strange looks, but neither of us paid them any mind.

"okay, so what all do we need to get?" i asked.

"uhh..." she trailed off before pulling the list out of her shorts pocket. she listed things off. i thought for a moment before heading towards the nearest aisle that had what we needed.

instead of walking there though, i kinda ran as i pushed z in the cart. we both laughed as i did.

we should probably stop before we get kicked out or something, but oh well.

"you went past the aisle!" she snickered.

"shut up," i grumbled with a look of faux annoyance. i pulled the cart back some, then steered it into the aisle.
