Although Avalon and Melora were two years behind on their studies, they didn't seem to have much difficulty to cover things up. Avalon realised that the wizarding study was lot less difficult than the muggle study. Compared to her old school, the homework was lot less and the subjects weren't that difficult to grasp. And no one could change her mind on that.

When the two girls had used their wands for the first time, they were left in utter awe. All those years they wished to do magic and now their dreams had finally been fulfilled. Avalon didn't leave any chance to use her wand, it managed to leave in surprise every time she did magic.

Avalon was looking forward her Potions class with Professor Snape. Her and Melora were yet to meet him, and Melora wasn't looking for it at all. The twins didn't hate Snape, obviously knowing everything about him, but they didn't particularly like him either because even though he did a very brave and noble thing, he still bullied the children who were at absolutely no fault.

By the end of the double potions, Avalon was pretty sure she didn't like Snape very much. During the roll call, when he had said her name, his eyes had maliciously narrowed down on her specifically as though she had offended him mortally. Avalon was quite taken aback by the intensity of the glare. She surely hadn't expected Snape to welcome her with flowers and bouquets, but she hadn't even expected this much hate.

Maybe he hated her because she literally appeared out of nowhere and was now trying to meddle with things here. She wouldn't be surprised if he knew about her and Melora, he was a great legilimens and Dumbledore trusted him. But if that were the case, shouldn't he show his hate to both her and Melora? But his hate seemed to be directed at her only, if you do not count Harry.

But what had really irked her the fact that he had made her cut Malfoy's root which was actually done by Ron in the books.

"Beaumont, cut up Malfoy's roots for him," Snape had said.

"Er -- which one?" asked Melora, looking surprised.

Snape looked up at Avalon and his lip curled in distaste. He jerked his head toward her, before going back to his work.

Avalon gaped at him indignantly. This wasn't how things were supposed to happen.

"Do I need to repeat myself?" said Snape when she hadn't moved. "Or do you need your house points reduced?

Melora shook her head warningly at Avalon, who had just opened his mouth to tell Snape off for biasness but closed it back. So she simply glared at Snape and then glared at Malfoy who was smirking at her.

"Wipe that smirk off before I commit your murder with this knife." snapped Avalon, showing him her knife threateningly.

Ron snorted from beside her.

Malfoy sneered at her, but didn't say anything. She pulled Malfoy's roots toward her, and began to chop them. She made sure to cut them all in equal size because she knew what happened in the book when Ron didn't did as told and was forced to exchange them with his own roots.

"And, sir, I'll need this shrivelfig skinned," said Malfoy, a little later after Avalon was done with his roots.

"Potter, you can skin Malfoy's shrivelfig," said Snape, giving Harry the look of loathing.

Harry skinned the shrivelfig as fast as he could and flung it back across the table at Malfoy without speaking.

"Seen your pal Hagrid lately?" Avalon heard Malfoy ask Harry and Ron quietly.

"None of your business," said Ron jerkily, without looking up.

"I'm afraid he won't be a teacher much longer," said Malfoy in a tone of mock sorrow. "Father's not very happy about my injury —"
