That evening everyone was lead in front of the castle to welcome the Beauxbatons and Durmstrang. Melora had quickly joined Lee, leaving Avalon with Harry, Ron, and Hermione. They joined the fourth row from the front.
"Nearly six," said Ron, checking his watch and then staring down the drive that led to the front gates. "How are they coming, Avalon?
"I'm not telling you." said Avalon, pulling her clock tighter around her.
"Why not?" said Ron. "It's not going to change the timeline."
"Maybe not. But it would ruin your surprise." she told him.
"Like that's a big deal." said Ron, rolling his eyes.
She threw him nasty glare.
"How d'you reckon they're coming?" said Ron, looking at Harry and Hermione. "The train?"
"I doubt it," said Hermione.
"How, then? Broomsticks?" Harry suggested, looking up at the starry sky.
"I don't think so . . . not from that far away. . . ."
"A Portkey?" Ron suggested. "Or they could Apparate — maybe you're allowed to do it under seventeen wherever they come from?"
"You can't Apparate inside the Hogwarts grounds, how often do I have to tell you?" said Hermione impatiently.
"It's a waste telling them, Hermione." said Avalon. "They'll forget it the next second."
"We won't." protested Harry.
"Oh, really?" Avalon said challengingly. "I have lost count how many times Hermione had to remind you both that you can't apparate inside Hogwarts."
"At least it's not more than the times you have failed to turn your teapot into a tortoise, which might I remind you is a third year spell." said Harry sassily.
Avalon kicked him in the leg, which made him stumble and he would've fallen right on first years standing directly in front if Ron hadn't grabbed him in time. Harry balanced himself again and glared at Avalon.
"It hurts!" said Harry furiously, clutching his leg in pain as he hopped on one leg.
"Good!" Avalon replied savagely.
"Stop it. Both of you are at fault here." said Hermione, staring at the two of them.
"How am I at fault?" said Avalon indignantly.
"You're sometimes -- you know -- violent. You know you are." said Hermione, when Avalon started to protest. "You should try to be more considerate and stop resorting to violence whenever something doesn't go your way."
Avalon grumbled under her breath.
"And Harry," Hermione turned to him. "you shouldn't have commented on Avalon's studies. Even though it might look like she's not good in studies, in reality she is. Because she started her education only last year, and managed to not only cover the last three years but also she had almost reached your level."
Ron nodded. "Yeah. It's some great feat."
"See?" said Avalon, flipping her hair in smugness. "I'm a genius."
"Now that's something debatable." Harry muttered, but Avalon heard it and glared at him with her green eyes.
"Merlin, I was only joking." said Harry. "No need to be so serious."
Avalon pointed her index finger at him, her eyes narrowed. "You don't get to joke about my studies. Understood?"
Harry flicked her finger out of his face, and smiled. "I only speak the truth."
