Avalon woke up early the next day with a plan she was determined to complete no matter what. Luck was in favour that she spotted Ron the exact moment she walked out of the girl's dormitory door.
"Just the person I was looking for!" She smiled brightly at him.
He looked at her suspiciously. "Why do I get a bad feeling from your smile?"
"Oh yeah? You should." said Avalon. "Because you and I are going to have a talk."
"Oh."
She dragged him out of the common room and led him down the stairs. He opened his mouth to protest, but fell silent on one look from her. They walked inside the empty Charms' class, and Avalon shut the door behind them.
"I feel like you're going to murder me now." said Ron, looking at her warily.
Avalon rolled her eyes at him. "I brought you here because I can't talk in front of others. It's private stuff."
"Look, I know what you're going to say --"
"Then shut up and listen to me." she said sharply. "Do you really believe Harry put his name in the Goblet of Fire?"
"Didn't you tell me to shut up?" He said, raising his eyebrows.
"I'm asking you again. Do you believe Harry put his name in the Goblet of Fire?"
"Everyone believes that. Who would put his name other than he himself?" said Ron bitterly.
"Ron, do you really believe that Harry would do something like that without telling you?" she asked softly. "Let's say that he put his name inside. But don't you think he would've told you, his best friend, about what he did and how he did?"
Ron hesitated before answering. "Well . . . fine. I know he didn't put his name in the Goblet of Fire."
"Yes, he didn't." Avalon told him. "It was someone else, someone who wants him dead."
"Harry said the same stuff last night." said Ron. "He said Moody reckons someone put his name to kill him. But . . ." he frowned. "I don't know whether to believe it or not."
"Are you really saying that after the last three years?" she said giving him a deadpanned look.
"I know you-know-who tried to kill Harry in first two years, but there was nothing like that in last year." said Ron. "Except Sirius, but he wasn't trying to kill Harry. Who can it be this time?"
Avalon looked at him with wide eyes, silently urging him to reach the conclusion.
"You're saying it's you-know-who again?" said Ron sceptically. "But didn't Harry kill him in the Chamber or Secrets in second year?"
"That was a just a hor -- a memory." she corrected herself. "Voldemort's soul is still alive, and he's the one who wants Harry dead and set him up for this stupid competition."
"Bloody hell." Ron swore quietly, looking at her with wide eyes.
"Bloody hell, indeed." she nodded.
"But -- But then how is it possible?" Ron asked, looking anxious. "Is you-know-who -- here?"
"No, he's not here. But that isn't the point." she said, coming back to track. "The point is that Harry didn't put his name in Goblet of Fire. So there's no reason for you to be angry with him."
"I know he didn't do that!" said Ron, suddenly looking frustrated. "But -- but --"
"You're jealous." said Avalon.
"I'm not jealous!" he said hotly.
She raised her eyebrows at him.
"Okay, maybe . . . maybe I am." He mumbled quietly, not looking her in the eyes.
