This was written with my phone. Autocorrect hates me, so bare with it.

Ranpo

_____

Edogawa Ranpo and Y/n

Ranpo liked my lunch, or more like he liked the desert part of my lunch. I didn't mind it that much, after all, when we realised that he eats nearly three fourths of the cookies, Evelyn began making more. Ranpo's share didn't change but mine did. Now he only got about half of them.

"Is Evelyn-san adding cookies, or am I just imagining?" he suddenly asked. I guess he noticed.

"To my understanding she wants us to have an equal amount".

"Ooh, that's very her".

I nodded. The rest of the lunch was quiet. I wasn't necessarily bothered by this, but I had an annoying feeling that something was going to happen soon enough.

The next day Ranpo- once again- sat down with me. He was quiet, which I learnt was rarely a good sign. "Good day, Ranpo-san", I greeted wishing to have him speak again.

"Morning".

Something was seriously wrong. "So, what's up? Has there been a new case? Perhaps a good one".

"No".

There was something. I just didn't know what. "Aha, want to talk about something else then?" I was never particularly bothered by quietness or being in a quiet environment with others. It was only that when someone who used to speak went quiet suddenly, then it bothered me.

"..." he grabbed something from under his... cape- if you could call it that. It was a brown bag with a baker's logo on it. "My offer".

I took the bag and opened it. Five chocolate chip cookies, American style. Very similar to what Evelyn made. I looked at him for an explanation, if this was an offer, he wanted something in return. "Offer for what?"

"Rest of the cookies. Those are from the bakery down the street and very similar to those of Evelyn-san".

Ah, I see. "There's no need. You can just eat them yourself". If he wanted to exchange those for the rest of the cookies, it wasn't going to work.

"Four cookies for these five".

"No".

"Three cookies for five".

"No".

"Two".

Two for five isn't a bad deal. It was in my favour even though one of Evelyn'scookies must be at least 1.5 times the size of the other ones. "Thats a deal then".

Evelyn looked at me the next morning, "Why do you have double the amount of cookies?" she questioned.

"Bargaining chips".
