Chapter VIII

Next day was stressful to say the least. You insisted you would go alone and after a discussion for an hour, you finally could portal yourself to the insitute.

So here you are, standing in front of the New York Institute with a bag in your hand.

"Alright.. Here goes nothing."

The inside was overwhelming. You've just entered and there are shadowhunters running all over the place. Computers and monitors are beeping rapidly.

Some were looking at files, others working on big computers at their desks. 

For you, total chaos of what you're used to with Magnus.

Taking small but confided steps while looking around, you don't notice someone approaching you.

"Hey."

He didn't shout but sure as hell his voice was loud.

Alec Lightwood is standing besides you, looking not so friendly for once.

"What are you doing here?"

You give him a confused look in response. "I will be staying here?"

Now it's his turn to give you a confused look. "What the hell do you mean by that? Staying?"

"Amelia!" Izzy runs up to you to greet you with a big hug. "I was expecting you today."

Luckily at least one lightwood sibling knows how to greet a person

"Hey Izzy. Where do I put these?" You lift up your bag feeling a little lost.

"Sure thing! Follow me!" She gives Alec a warning look before taking you by the hand to the rooms.

That's the moment other shadowhunters start to notice you. They give you mixed looks. It's either out of surprise or suspicion. In this case it is probably the last one.

You pass a training room where you see Clary and Jace training. Izzy notices you looking. "Don't worry. One day we will train so I can kick your *ss."

For the first time in a while, you laugh out loud. "I love your confidence."

You both keep on walking until finally you enter a large red coloured room. "You will be staying here. My room is at the end of the hallway so if you need something you know where to go."

You smile at her thankfully. "Thanks Izzy."

She was about to leave but you stop her.

"Don't you have any questions about all this?"

Turning to look back at you, she looks confused. "What do you mean?"

"I mean about me staying her. The reason behind all this."

"I trust you Amelia. Alec might be sceptical to say the least but for some reason I trust you. The only thing I heard is that Valentine is out for you. Clary has the same problem and I trust her too. You do not have to explain yourself. At least not now."

How is it possible that a shadowhunter is so sweet towards you. You are definitely not used to this.

"Once again thank you."

She smiles before standing up. "Make yourself comfortable. I will see you later."

You say goodbye and start immediately with unpacking. Feeling very thankful that Izzy welcomes you like this.

After 10 minutes

You're walking down the hallway, trying you very best not to get lost in this maze of rooms.
