Chapter XII

"Where is she?!"

Magnus' voice rumbles through the hallway.

He stops in front of the room where Clary's is standing. She tries to hold him back.

"She's resting Magnus. Everything is-"

But she gets pushed away by a furious Magnus. Even though he's so angry, he didn't push her hard. Just hard enough to get into the room.

The door flies open and he's looking at a tired looking Amelia.

You're giving him a small smile from the bed. "Hi Mag-"

You get also interrupted by him because he hugs you tightly.

So tightly that you have to tap out.

"I can't breath Magnus.."

"How many times do I have to warn you. It's dangerous out there!"

"I'm sorry.."

Someone in the room clears his throat which makes Magnus break the hug.

Alec leans against the wall while raising an eyebrow.

That's when Magnus realises the whole group is here.

Izzy, Jace, Simon and Alec.

Clary enters the room and gives you a small smile.

"You shouldn't have let her come with you." Magnus says angrily while standing up. He's speaking to all of them but is staring directly at Alec.

Before he could walk towards him, you grab his hand. "C'mon Mag, It's not their fault. I lost focus and got attacked. Nothing that's their fault."

"Still, you shouldn't be outside. They say it's safer here than my apartment. Well they are definitely proving that wrong."

Alec keeps his mouth shut which you are thankful for. You don't want him and Magnus to get into a heated discussion.

"As much as you hate it I will not stay inside like a spoiled scared little girl. I have to help and I will."

Magnus' face twitches but he knows you will not change your mind.

"I'm very happy Amelia is okay. But I think we will need some explanation. What was that all about?"

You knew Alec would ask first. Taking the chance to get you finally talking.. Smart.

"You scared me Amelia. I didn't know what to do." Izzy says with concern in her eyes.

You are touched by her words.

"Now tell us Amelia. What was this all about?" Alec asks once again. Definitely getting impatient.

"Amelia doesn't need to explain herself pretty boy."

Even with the compliment, Magnus sound hella pissed.

"She does. The mission went well until that circle member pulled a collar around her neck. Which made her have a total breakdown. Not to mention the state of shock she was in.
It has something to do with what was said between you and my mother, doesn't it?"

Magnus was about to speak up but you stopped him. "Please.. Can I get a minute with them alone?"

"No"

Well that was clear.

"Please Magnus. Just a minute."

You know he won't get calm and will keep on trying to stop you from explaining.

He's silent for a second.

"Okay fine. But only a minute." Then he turns towards Alec. "If she isn't comfortable with explaining herself. She doesn't have to. I won't be surprised if you won't understand her. You're a shadowhunter after all."

Awtch

"Magnus.."

Alec nods. "Understood."

After Magnus left the room, clearly against his will, Alec turns towards you.

Slowly, you look up to look at everyone. When you lock eyes with Alec you are surprised.

He looks at you with a soft face expression. Probably not realising it himself.

"I understand you want an explanation for all of this.."

Clary smiles softly. "Take your time Amelia."

You smile in return and take a deep breath. "And you all really cannot tell the clave.."

They all nod almost immediately.

"Don't worry Amelia. They surely won't hear it from me." Jace winks at you with a smile.

Alright here goes nothing

"I got kidnapped and experimented on by Valentine."

Jace's eyes widen in shock, smile immediately swept away. Definitely not excepting you to be this forward.

"What?" Clary peeps out.

"At 4 years old Valentine discovered my powers. Lots of accidents happened because I couldn't control them so my parents agreed to send me away with Valentine. I still got to see them of course but not for long.."

At this moment, they are all ears and it seems like everyone has stopped breathing for a second.

You mentally wish to be somewhere else at the moment but they deserve the truth.. Partly.

"After a year, Valentine wanted to start experiments on me and have me 24/7 with him. It's was safer that way he said." you scoff while looking at your hands. "Safer my *ss."

"But your parents were against it?" Izzy asks softly.

You nod sadly. "They were definitely against it but that was not an answer Valentine wanted. I got taken away by 5 years old. From then on I had to endure 7 years of pure torture and painful experiments."

Very carefully you touch your neck. "One of the most painful was the collar. I had to wear one that could hurt me if I misbehaved. The pain was.. Sometimes too much.. Many times I thought I was dying. And actually I wasn't afraid of death. More of him, Valentine."

"You were 5?" Clary was now walking towards you, to sit next to you.

Staring at her, you simply nod.

"I'm sorry Amelia.. I'm so sorry that had to happen to you.."

You smile a little at her words.

"It's fine Clary. I survived. But now I must fight him to get my peace and revenge. I will help you find your mother. I promise."

She nods at your words, squeezing your hand.

Then Alec raises his hand. "Wait.. Where are your parents? What happened to them?"

Your eyes widen at his question.

"I.. I'm not sure. I've never seen them again after that night I got kidnapped. Valentine probably killed them."

Lie

"And he did all that because you are more powerful than other warlocks?"

"I think so yes.."

Lie

He slowly nods. "I'm.. I'm sorry to hear that Amelia."

Your eyes widen. Did he just?

Giving him a small smile, you try your best to hide your suprised face expression.

Then he smiles. Actually smiles at you.

"We are going to get your revenge Amelia. We all will make sure of it." Jace spook up from the other side of the room.

You nod your head. "Thank you Jace."

Then you lock eyes with Alec again who's staring at you intensely.

Guilt is eating you alive but it's for the best.

Lying is bad, very bad. But in this case it is definitely the smartest thing to do.
