Chapter X

You've been pacing around your room for the last 10 minutes.

What the hell am I supposed to do now?? He cannot know, nobody!

You need to talk with Alec and soon.

He heard everything. Every single thing.

Groaning loudly, you cover your face with your hands.

This can't be happening

"Amelia?"

You let out a yelp by the sudden voice.

Alec stands at your door. Arms crossed but as before, his whole body tense.

Silence fills the room for a second. Your hearts racing so hard that you're afraid it will burst out of your chest.

"How much have you heard?"

He takes a step into your room, still keeping eye contact. "Everything."

A groan leaves your lips again, this time louder than the first.

"Listen, you cannot tell anyone! Please, you have to promise me that!"

"You were one of Valentine's experiments?"

The fear gets taken over by anger when he doesn't even listen to you.

"I swear to the Angel Alec, listen to me for once! You cannot tell anyone about this! For real!"

He narrows his eyes and takes another step closer. "And why's that? Why can't I tell the others."

You don't get intimated and take a step closer as well. "Are you dumb? If the cave knows what I'm capable of they will want to examine me."

Probably not true. The clave can't do that but they can do other thing if they know the whole truth.

He's quiet for a second.

Noticing your standing a little too close towards him so you take a step back.

"You murdered people? A collar around your neck? My mother leaving you? I need answers Amelia."

"Promise me you will not tell anyone."

He sighs while crossing his arms. "I can't promise you that."

Once again, the anger rises in your body. "Why can't you just trust me for once! Once! I haven't done anything towards you or your family!"

Suddenly he gets up into your face, noses almost touching. "I'll do anything to protect my family. You were killing for Valentine. Murdering."

A gasp leaves your mouth by hearing those words. You stumble backwards in shock.

It feels like a big slap even though it were only words. But those words cut very very deep.

"Have you only heard that part?" Your voice sounds quiet, weak, hurt.

You don't even know why it effect you so much. 

By seeing your reaction, his eyes soften. "Listen, I'm sorry but-"

You hold your hand up. "Don't."

Holding all your emotions in, you walk past him to leave the room.

"I'll keep this between us for now." He says all of a sudden before you could leave the room.

You don't dare to turn around and meet his eyes. Afraid of showing your vulnerability.

"Thank you."

With that you leave the room.

An hour later

"Will you stop!"
