*Flashback*
It was my first day of school here. I had moved away from Wolverhampton... and all my bullies. Or so I thought.
I walked to the front office, receiving a timetable, a locker number, and a locker combination. The school secretary, Miss Jules, sent me off to my locker with a student volunteer, Amber. Amber silently walked me to my locker and showed me how to unlock it, just in case, and then pointed me in the direction of my first period.
I unlocked my locker as Amber powerwalked back to the office, grabbing my English textbook and starting off down the halway, careful to keep my jacket sleeves down and my eyes pinned to the floor. I bumped into someone since I was looking down.
"Hey, watch where you're going!" a male voice shouted.
"I'm, uh, sorry," I stuttered, trying to sidestep him and continue to my class.
"You new here, girlie?" the guy asked, stepping back in front of me. I nodded slightly, hugging my textbook and notebook close to my chest. "Well look up at me," he ordered. I obeyed the command, my hazel eyes meeting another pair of hazel ones. The boy had black hair and had a badboy vibe to him. I backed away a tad. I didn't want to involve myself myself with bullies.
"Well, hello. Zayn. Zayn Malik. You?"
"Cameron," I whipsered.
Zayn cocked an eyebrow. "Last name?"
"Payne."
"Well she asked for it," a girl with long blond hair and a pound of makeup plastered onto her face said.
"Wh-what did I ask for?" I asked nervously.
"Pain," she answered before raising her hand and bringing it down onto my cheek. Hard.
All of her friends grumbled in satisfication and showered the blonde with compliments. Zayn just stayed in the same position and said, "Brit, she was telling me her last name."
"I know, Zaynie. It was a play on words," she said, winking. Zayn shrugged and shifted his eyes to me.
"It was pretty clever. Maybe you should receive pain more often, Payne," Zayn said and my heart stopped. Like, stopped. No. No, no, no. I just left to get away from the bullies. Not so I could get a freah new set. Zayn raised his hand this time and slapped me on the same cheek that Britney did moments ago. The force of his slap sent me sprawling on the ground. Thankfully, the bell rang before they could do much else. "Later, slut. See you after school," Zayn said, winking evillly.
*End Flashback*
My eyes fluttered open, and I found myself staring at the glow-in-the-dark stars I have taped to the ceiling in my room. I sat up groggily, rubbing my head. What happened? I swung my legs over the side of my bed and left my room, walking down the stairs cautiously. The last thing I remember was seeing some strange blonde boy in my kitchen.
No one was present in the living room. That must mean they're in the kitchen. "Dani?" I called out nervously. The curly, brunette emerged from the kitchen, her face breaking out into a relieved smile when she saw me.
"Thank God. You gave me quite a scare when you fainted," she said, hugging me.
"Why did I faint?"
"I really don't know. Harry had just asked who you were and then Zayn said your name. You took one look at Zayn and then passed out," she shrugged.
My heart stopped again. It wasn't a dream?! "They're actually here?" I asked instead.
Danielle nodded her head and met my hazel eyes. "Liam feels really bad. He missed you, Cam. You should give him a second chance. I bet he's not the same boy he was two years ago. A lot can change in a person," Dani said quietly.
I nodded, processing her words. "I want to see him. I'm not saying I'll forgive him for everything he's done to me, but I do want to see him. It's been a long time." Danielle smiled wide and dragged me into the kitchen.
Five boys were standing around the island, chatting amonst themselves. They stopped as soon as they saw me, however. My eyes skimmed over three of them before finally resting on Liam. I gave him a half-smile and he wordlessly rushed over to me, scooping me up in his arms. He hugged me tightly and I wrapped my arms around his neck, trying to remember when the last time that Liam hugged me was.
Liam let go of me and took a step away. "So, Cammie, how have you been?"
"Fine," I answered shortly. What else was I supposed to say? Oh, Liam, my life has been perfectly horrid without you! I'm a cutting freak and suffer from bulimia. Oh, and I think your best friends with my worst bully. No. I think not.
Liam nodded and gestured to the other four boys. "You know the lads?" I shook my head and he introduced them to me. "The blonde is Niall. The one in stripes is Louis. The curly haired one is Harry. And the one with black hair and the random blonde streak is Zayn." I flinched when Zayn's name was spoken.
I honestly thought I saw the last of him when I left Bradford. Guess not. The boys all waved, Zayn looking a bit confused. His eyebrows were furrowed and he was staring intently at me. No one else seemed to notice but me, though. Maybe I was imaging it.
"So, Liam. I, um, have a question," I said, twisting my fingers around, staring at the table.
"Yeah?"
"Why did you never tell Danielle about me? Or the boys? Do you really not like me or something?"
"What? No! I love you, Cammie! I didn't tell them because it was less of a chance you would get swarmed by the paps. I know how much you hate attention. Why would you ever think I didn't like you?" he replied, aghast.
"Oh, I don't know. Maybe because you bullied me through high school! Why did you even do that?" I replied.
Liam opened his mouth, and then closed it like a fish. "Cammie, I honestly don't know why I made fun of you two years ago. I guess I thought it would make me look cool and stuff. But all I did was act like a douche towards my little sister. Cam, I'm so, so sorry," Liam apologized.
I stared at Liam, trying to see if his apology was genuine. I pursed my lips and nodded. "I half-forgive you, Liam. I just need a little time, ok?" He nodded and smiled a little, which I returned.
I took a deep breath and turned to Zayn. "Your turn."
"What?" he asked, confused.
"Answer the question I asked Liam."
"Well my answer is that I never told anyone about you because I didn't know you," he answered smugly.
"No, the other one," I sighed.
"What other one?
"The second one."
"And what was that again?" he said smirking.
"Why did you bully me in high school?!" I shouted at him, fed up with his nonsense. Zayn's eyes widened and his face paled. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Niall stare at Zayn in schock, while Harry's and Louis' mouths dropped. Danielle gasped and covered her mouth, shocked. Liam just seized up and stood rigid, staring at Zayn in disbelief.
"Zayn..." Liam asked. "You bullied my sister?"
