***Zayn’s P.O.V***

Flashback

I sat on a broken bench in the park in Bradford. The bench had been snapped in half due to a fight that had occurred in this very spot almost twelve years ago. The city tried to replace it and have it fixed, but the people of Bradford liked to say that it was a historical site for the boring town of Bradford. You see, nothing much happens here, and no one really seems to care what you do. People roam the night at ungodly hours, which I suppose happens in most cities these days. Vandalism was as common as the sun rising every morning.

For once, my mind wasn’t running wild. I was in a tranquil state. I had finished all of my homework, unlike the majority of my classmates at school. I might be the bad boy there, but I still had a mother to impress and younger sisters to be a role model for.

There was only one thing that I regret doing. I’ve regretted it for the past three weeks, and I’m sure I’ll regret it for the rest of my life. I’ve regretted it ever since that man caught my attention on the street that one day three weeks ago, and I foolishly went over to talk to him. But no one will ever know that. No one could ever know. Sure it would probably boost my reputation in school, but my reputation in the real world would plummet.

My tranquil state was broken when I felt the bench shake next to me, signaling someone else had taken a seat. “Ya know, two people shouldn’t sit on this. It’s snap,” I said, looking across the way at a mother duck guarding her ducklings by the pond.

“Yeah, so?” a female voice responded. I glanced to the side and saw the she-devil herself. Britney. She annoyed me to the brink of Hell, but she was the most popular girl in school, and I was the most popular guy. Therefore, we were “friends.”

“Go away, Brit,” I ordered, turning back to face the ducks.

“Look, Zayn, I just got the juiciest gossip in school,” Britney squealed, and I rolled my eyes.
