My head snapped back around, and I glued my eyes onto my untouched salad. My breathing was uneven, and my mind was blank. Why was he here in Wolverhampton?!
"Cam! Cammie! Cameron Rose!" Danielle shouted, trying to break me out of my traumatized state. Well, that part worked. I frantically waved my hands in front of her face, attempting to quiet her down. Too late.
"Cameron?" a deep voice asked. I slowly turned my head to see a tall boy about Liam's age standing at the edge of the table. His unruly light brown hair flickered over his mischievous and shocked green eyes. One of his friends stood off to his side, eyes glued to us.
"Hi," I whispered. Why me?
"Zayn, is that you? Dude, hey!" the boy's friend called out, a smirk overtaking his face. "Eddie, look! It's Z!" the mystery friend called wildly.
"I see the boy, Tom!" Eddie called out exasperatedly, his hair falling even further over his eyes. I flinched; that voice had always scared me back in Bradford. Eddie turned back to face us, his smirk returning when his eyes rested on my terrified face. "How've you been, Z?" he asked, his cold eyes never leaving my face.
"Uh, great," Zayn answered, shifting in his seat so that his feet were now resting in the aisle. "Lads, I'm gonna go, uh, catch up with Eddie," Zayn said, getting out of the seat and tugging Eddie over to opposite end of the diner. His friend, Tom, stood there, almost looking abandoned now that Eddie was gone. Wow, I haven't seen that look since Chelsea had stalked away once, and her little followers weren't paying attention. They were confused for hours, walking up and down the hallways and paying religious visits to the bathroom to apply even more makeup.
"Liam! Liam! Liam! Liam! Liam! Liam!" Louis started to annoyingly shout.
"Yes, Louis?"
"Can we go to the arcade next door? Plleeeeeeeaaaaassssseeeeee?!" Louis begged, pointing out the window to the little arcade open next door to the diner.
"Fine," Liam gave in, knowing better than to argue. "Meet us in there when you're all finished." Liam threw money on the table to cover for his and Louis' meals before kissing Danielle's cheek and leaving the diner, Louis jumping onto his back on the way out.
Tom chuckled darkly and Harry's eyes shot over to him. "What?" he asked Tom harshly, obviously not taking a liking to Tom.
"Nothing. Just laughing at the gay little boy," Tom replied, still chuckling.
"Who? Louis?" Niall asked, aghast at Tom's bluntness.
"Ha! Even his name sounds gay!" Tom replied, laughing even harder.
"Okay, you need to shut the fuck up, ya little cunt," Niall cursed, biting deeply into his burger with fury.
"Whoa, sorry, Leprechaun," Tom insulted, making Niall tense up.
Without thinking, I said the first thing that came to my mind so that I could divert Tom's attention away from Niall. "Wow, you've sure become more vocal since high school, Tom. You're not Eddie's little shadow any more." Tom's eyes flickered over to me, and I immediately regretted speaking.
"Yeah? Well you've sure gotten more uglier since high school."
"What?" Harry intervened, shocked. "Cammie's beautiful."
"Wow, you have them under your little whore spell, don't you? You. Little Slut," he insulted slowly, spitting each word in my face like it was poison. When he was done vocally abusing me, Tom took it upon himself to spit straight into my 3/4 eaten salad. "Aw, it's okay, Payne. You didn't need it anyway."
