My eyes shot open as a large crash sounded through my room. I sat up straight, looking around the room for a robber or something that could have caused that crash. Groaning from the floor caused me to look over the side of the bed and see Charlene rolling around on the floor.
“How’s the weather down there?” I called, standing up and starting to stretch. Looks like I’ll be getting an early start on the day.
“Oh, it’s lovely.”
“What happened?”
“Oh, well, you decided that your side of the bed wasn’t comfortable enough, I guess, and you decided to shove me off my end. Was mine more comfy or something?” Charlene asked sarcastically, rubbing her shoulder.
I winced. “Oops. Sorry, Char.”
Charlene just laughed and waved it off. “Nah, I’m all good. Can I take a shower?” she asked, pointing towards the bathroom.
“Yeah, go ahead. My shampoo and conditioner is on the ledge at the end of the shower. Towels are in the cabinet,” I directed her around the bathroom. She nodded and pulled the braid out of her hair, ruffling it up a bit. As soon as she was in and the water was on, I went downstairs.
Harry was the only one in the kitchen when I walked in. “Hi, Haz,” I mumbled to his back. Harry turned and smiled widely when he saw me stumble in.
“Cammie!” he cheered, smothering his waffle with syrup and strawberry slices.
“Geez, Harry. You can barely see the waffle anymore. Let it breathe!”
“Hey, I am a growing boy,” he defended, taking a monster bite of the sugary food. “Want one?”
“No, thanks,” I said, sitting at the island.
“Cam,” Harry started, but I cut him off.
“Don’t worry, Haz. I’m going to eat some fruit.”
