(Leon)- "Careful. There's bear traps spread all around." I warned her.
She took little mice steps and slowly follows me. These villagers are everywhere, they seem to just be given a location and wait until we appear. I watch her leap forward towards the door moving away from the traps, she lets out s sigh of relief. So far she's been doing well under the pressure, she's keeping pace with me.
What's floating in the back of my mind is why was I chosen? Not saying I'm the best or the worst, but there's just as many good agents back there. I was the only one sent out, that doesn't make any sense. Either they think I can get the job done or I'm expendable.
I shouldn't be thinking about it too hard.
Just ahead was a ladder leading above ground. Beside us was another descending down into a pool of water. Something in the water is moving. I holster my handgun and jump down, I land on my feet feeling water soak up the fabric of my clothes. The water was waist high, the lower half of my body feels the cold temperature. I roll my shoulders to distract me from feeling a shiver. I look up the ladder seeing (Y/n) looking down at me.
(Leon)-"Come on down!" I called out. It's probably pointless being down here but if she were up there and more villagers came-- there's no way I'd be able to help her from his distance. She begins to climb down the ladder. I look towards the water hearing splashes behind me. Something swims in between my legs in a rush seeing a large bass jump out of the water. The water ripples not able to see where the bass went. This reminds me the first year when I came into the organization and befriended Deacon, He invited me to go fishing and he made it a competition between him and I. Goes without saying who won, but Deacon made it clear to the other agents that he had caught more than I did. I grin letting out a scoff.
That cocky bastard.
I walk through the water feeling another bass go in between my legs. (Y/n) is reaching the end, I watch as she goes step by step down. Her left foot reaches the third bar and slips-- she falls back into the water with a shriek. The water thrashes around trying to find her footing, She stands up with a frantic expression on her face. Her chest pants breathing in and out, her head turns to me and finds relief.
(Leon)-"You okay?" I ask.
She doesn't answer.
She looks down at the water dripping from her clothes and her hair, her fingers rake through her hair slicking it back behind her. She turns her neck towards me. The look on her face says it all.
(Leon)- "You can't swim?"
She remains silent.
This is gonna create problems.
(Y/n)-"A skill I didn't think I'd need." Her face turns a hint of red. She's embarrassed.
I won't bring any attention to it.
(Leon)-"There's nothing but Bass. Let's head on up." She nods and grips onto the ladder, her foot lifts up on the bar securing it in place to prevent another slip. I follow a little after as soon as she makes it to the top. Once we were back where we were we head on up to the ladder to reach above ground. I turn around and extended my hand for her, she accepts and I lifted her the rest of the way. She looks ahead of the path seeing crows picking at the dirt.
(Y/n)-"Where are we now?" I can tell she wants to forget that little dip in the pool, She warms herself up by hugging her arms.
(Leon)-"This road should lead us to where Ashley is being held."
(Y/n)-"Well let's go-- I don't want to keep her waiting any longer than we have to" She starts to walk towards the crows. They flap their wings to take flight-- there's something near them. She's walking towards it! I rush leaving hard pressed footprints behind me.
