Chapter Eleven: Reunion

As I pull the level to the right a loud grinding sound activates. Areas of the mechanisms turn routing the water to different location spots. The waterfall in the center begins to silence revealing a cave tunnel behind it. I jump down from the platform and making my way back to (Y/n), she's near the center waiting for me to jump back. I leaped onto the wooden box, jumped to the next and the final one standing in front of her. I look passed her seeing villagers from which we came from and some coming out of the tunnel. 

(Leon)-" Come on! Stick close!" 

There's too many of them, I can handle them on my own but I have her safety to think about.

(Leon)-"Shield your eyes." Her hands slammed against her eyes securing them shut. I take out a flash grenade and pulled the pin and shut my eyes tossing it in front of the villagers that came out from the tunnel. They let out groans and wail in pain, I open mine seeing the aftermath of the flash grenade, the villagers claw at their eyes to try to see again. My left hand reaches out grabbing (Y/n) by the wrist and yanking her with me. We push pass the villagers shifting left and right to avoid there grasps. We enter the dark tunnel following a very dim light at the end of it, there was a dead end with lit candles surround us. 

(Y/n)-" What is this?" She retrieves her wrist back and walks up to the dead end wall lightly brushing it with her fingertips. She places her palms on the wall and clenches onto the insignia and pulls it towards herself, she stumbles backward holding a piece of the wall. The ground rumbles underneath us, the dead end wall begins to rise revealing more of the tunnel. 

Radio static was coming through but with the sounds of footsteps behind us there's no time to answer. I'll just have to call Hunnigan when we're in the clear. 

(Leon)-"That's what's going to get us to Ashley. Hold onto that." I take lead going further into the tunnel seeing the end is an exit. I open it up and step aside for her to enter first. I shut the door behind me but there's no lock to it, they'll catch up right behind us. 

(Y/n)-" Great..." she says unenthusiastically. 

I turn to view what she's so excited about, it was a dock and a little river boat--same as the other one. 

(Leon)- " Let's hope this one just has underwater animatronics." I guide her to the boat, I hope into it and held out my hand to assist her. She sits down with her legs folded and holding the round insignia to her chest.  I make for the motorboat and give it big wind up, it starts immediately and I lower down holding onto the steering guiding the boat through the water. 

Minutes go by hearing only the sounds of the motor and water splashes. I should give Hunnigan a call. With my right hand occupied with steering, my left hand reaches the radio and press a button to call her. she answers quickly. 

(Leon)-"Sorry to have missed you call, it was a bit too crowded." 

(Hunnigan)-"Everything okay?" 

(Leon)-"Yeah. I've obtained an object that resembles the cult group's insignia" 

(Hunnigan)- "Wonderful, Leon. Head back to the church. Ashley's safety is our immediate priority." She ends the call seeing a black and white static screen. 

I understand it's the President's Daughter that's the top of everything else, but there is another life here with her. The way I see it, take away the title of the 'President's Daughter' and it's just a scared young adult. If (Y/n) were to get kidnapped but Ashley didn't, I'd go after her. Vice versa between the two. No one is getting left behind. I put away the radio back to my side and continue to steer the boat. 

I break my focus and caught a glimpse of her tightly holding onto the round insignia in her arms. She's not letting go of the only thing that's going to bring the two girls back together. She mumbles something under her breath, a prayer maybe?
