Chapter Twenty Six: Novistador

We made it.

All those cultists with scythes were a pain to get through. I take a deep sigh and roll my shoulders feeling a little bit of tension. It'll have to be dealt with later. The three of us continue to follow a wide hallway, we have about thirty seconds before we reach the end and something else will come out from around the corner. 

(Y/n)-"Can't believe you risked yourself for a cup." I smirked. We continued walking the end of the hall. Her shoulder brushes against my arm as she walks beside me. 

(Leon)- " Well, it got us through didn't it?" She could've taken Ashley with her and gone ahead but instead she didn't. In a way, maybe it was a good thing she didn't. We reached the tall doors and opened them to pass through. The wind is cold as it blew between us, observing the next room-- I don't know what's more concerning, this large cocoon hanging above the ceiling or the lack of flooring? If we aren't too careful we'd fall in a pitch black pit. 

We better get across this fast. 

I walk ahead to shield them incase something were to attack in the front. 

A gust of wind flew over our heads so suddenly seeing arms and legs flaying around. Next thing I see is (Y/n) grabbing a hold of her legs but all that's doing is taking her along with-- what the hell is that? 

Insects? 

She's losing her grip on Ashley-- the fall will kill her! 

My boots move forward one after the other, they're getting away from me-- its hard to keep up! (Y/n) couldn't hold on anymore. 

Her screams fueled my adrenaline.

I jump forward opening my arms in front of me, the impact of the fall causes me to lose my footing and fall to the ground. I managed to turn my side for my back to take the fall instead of her. Her weight on top of me felt light, not heavy at all. I feel my fingertips touch the skin from her back, its warm and trembling as she clings to me. I pull away setting her down quickly and gently to stand back on my feet to see where they have taken Ashley.

Ashley's scream were distant but she was long gone. 

A loud irritating buzzing sound like house flies were surrounding us. 

(Leon)- "Great. More of them!"
