6) The Christmas Play!

What is wrong with him?!

Drooling all over Shona like that..

Like that's something appreciable..

How disgusting...

He even stopped spending quality time with me!

Is he doing all this intentionally?

But what could I have done to make him act like this?

"You're jealous , Saish!"  Trish whispered into my ears..

"Of course not!"

"Yes you are!"

"No , I'm not!"

"Admit it!"

"Infact , I pity him!"

"You're the only one who notice him being with her!"

"In that case , even youu!"

"I was just noticing you! You like him!"

"What in the world-.."My heart started beating faster and I could feel the blood rushing into my cheeks!

Oh my..do I really do then?

What bullshit , No!

"Oh , c'mon! I can see it in your eyes" and she left me to my thoughts..

"As you all know , next week's christmas and our class will get the chance to perform in the assembly right before vacations! So , what do you people want to do?"Ma'am announced..

Excitement was in the air and everybody started shouting "PLAY!" in a chorus!

I joined in!

"So we'll show your schoolmates a play! The typical birth of Christ play , okay?" 

She went to the back of the class and started calling people for the various roles..

Soon enough , Sohail was called..

Ma'am wanted him to be Father Joseph!

What a bore...

and then she called me..

Holy shit. Are you thinking what I'm thinking?!

Yes..you're right..

Me...to be Mother Mary!

"Are you fine with this role , dear?"

"Umm..actually not ma'am..I think Shona will fit the role!

She's new and would be delighted to take this role!"

"Then you have to take an angel's role , okay?

Take the script and read your lines!"

Shona , was of course delighted that Sohail was her 'husband'!

I laughed to myself!

all of my friends were in the choir!

"Joseph......umm...I am very tired! We need ...some place to stay! aaah..Joseph.."

"stop at 'place to stay' Shona! Why haven't learnt your lines thoroughly?" ma'am literally shouted!

"Correct your body language , Shona!"....

"Thats not the way you hold a baby , Shona!"....

"A little more expression , Shona!"...

ma'am was really fed up..

"Shona , I am sorry , but you and Sasha will have to exchange roles..There are not too many dialogues for Angel-2.."

She shot me angry glances like it was my fualt that she stammered..

I walked to the podium innocently and took up her place...

"Joseph , I'm very tired , We need to find somewhere to stay." (Sounding tired)

Ma'am was  impressed and I was the choice for Mary..

I'll make do with it!

D-Day!

I was gonna wear ragged clothes !

Thats okay..but everyone else is gonna be wearing angelic dresses!

But I was one of the mains , so I was satisfied..

I looked at myself in the mirror and rehearsed..

"We'll get late! C'mon fast now!"

"Coming Mum..."

I got into the car and we were there in 5 minutes..

The entrance had a small a Christmas tree and neon lights..

My class teacher welcomed my mum and took us to the changing room..

"I pity you..dressin up in rags like that (pointing at my dress) , really not my style!"she said impolitely when my mum spotted Sohail's and went running to talk to her..

"Oh..stammering is more like your style.."

She gave me a despiteful look and turned away..

"You look nice , Mary..."

"You look handsome yourself in rags , Joseph...Wear it more often.."I was still annoyed with him and I told this to him meanly..

"I am sorry Sash.."

"Apology not accepted.." 

"Chop , Chop! Time to go!"

We all assembled backstage and it began!

 "Joseph , I'm very tired , We need to find somewhere to stay."

"Ok , my love.."

Joseph to a peasant - "My wife is very tired! Can u spare us a place?"

"I have a barn next to my place, it has animals in it  , it is warm and there is plenty of space to lie on."

The rest fo the play went smoothly and choir began

"Joy to the world! The lord has come!....."

The assembly came to an end and we got an applaud..

I rushed to my changing room and got into my school uniform..

"You were great , dear!" mum said

Everybody else liked my perfomance too! 

"We did it!"hi-fived Sohail..

"Yeah , whatever!"
