FIVE YEARS LATER ;)
It was a lazy Sunday morning.
A lean girl with wavy black hair dishevelled in all directions was occupying the bed. She was sleeping on one side with her body curled up. A young man in his twenties was sleeping on the bare floor, except for a thin mattress. He was sleeping on his tummy with his head turned to one side and legs and arms outstretched.
"Wake up." Sasha said, stirring from one side to another, and giving herself a good stretch. She gradually opened her eyes and sat upright. She looked to her side and then leaned to look at Jeet sleeping on the floor. Apparently, it was more 'relieving' to sleep on the floor than on the bed. Sasha mad the bed 'warm' all over.
She looked at the digital clock on the bedside table and yawned again. It was 9 in the morning. Sasha and Jeet worked for the same company, an aerospace research group. They were in different departments, yes. But they had the privilege of working together. They worked the whole day and reached home only at 11 and the weekends provided all the sleep they missed.
"Wake. Up." Sasha sighed. She got out of the bed and jumped next to Jeet. She started pulling out the covers. She was not even expecting it, when Jeet slowly sat up and then pulled her next to him. He hugged her body close to his, not letting her go.
"Let me go! Get off me!"
"Please just stay! For five minutes!" Jeet pleaded with his eyes still closed. Just then, the bell rang.
Sasha's MOM's point of view :-
It was the 28th of September. I was finally going to see my daughter! After two long years. I wanted to be here for her twenty second birthday, I couldn't miss it! Two years ago, along with Sasha's dad, I had shifted to Singapore, where he had got his new job. As Sasha was independent now, and could very well take care of herself, I had decided to stay with him. I had met with Sasha quite a few times, but never stayed with her for a long time.
Sasha had finished her degree in aeronautics when she was offered a job. She seemed pretty happy all the time, which made us satisfied. She was living in our very own old house in Oakwood.
So, as her twenty second birthday was right around the corner, I decided to give her a surprise!
My flight had reached Bangalore early in the morning, and the travel from the airport to home was a long one. It took nearly three hours. I was tired and sleepy. Old memories lit up in my head when I saw those familiar white gates and we entered the lobby. I pressed the button agains the second floor with a sigh.
I confidently walked up to our flat and rang the bell. I was feeling really excited! I would finally see Sasha after a long time!
It was quite a long time before a young man in his twenties opened the door. He was shirtless and had only long tracks on.
"Good morning. Who's this?" He asked me. I was petrified. How could I have lost my memory so fast? Surely I could remember our flat number.
"Sorry, wrong house." I apologised to the young man and slapped myself. He shut the door.
