He likes me. I like him as a friend?
The examinations were over and the schools reopened thereafter. I continued to sit with Sohail Bannerjee.
We were having chemistry. And I was listening to ma'am with utmost attention. But Sohail just had to interrupt me while I was writing away my precious notes.
"Sasha..you are so pretty." Where was that coming from. I was honestly really flattered about his comment. I coloured deeply and put down my head as blood rushed into my cheeks and I flushed pink.
"Thanks." I said, avoiding his gaze.
"So you agree that you are pretty?" I flushed a pink again, with anger this time. I looked back at him, giving him a confused look.
"Just kidding." He smirked at me. My, sometimes, this boy was so annoying. Sometimes he was trying to be funny. Sometimes he was annoyed.
I looked into his book, scanning it for any pointers that I could have missed. This guy had nothing written in his notebook. Absolutely nothing. Then how did he top the class every single time? God really should have divided intelligence equally among his children.
We were having oral tests the next period. I stood in from of the entire class when it was my turn. My english teacher was sitting in one of the empty benches at the front. She started firing questions at me and I answered them, keeping my eyes on the empty place where I sat. But Sohail just had to mess up every single thing.
I was in the middle of my answer when he started sniffing his armpits. I swear I could not hold back my laughter anymore when he started making demented faces at me. What in the name of god was wrong with this boy.
"What's wrong with you?" I glared at him, furious.
"What. I was trying to make the walls laugh." He shrugged.
"Seriously? You just started a war, my boy." I gave him a knowing smirk. I wasn't gonna step back. The only way in which I could get back at Sohail was to play his own tricks with him.
~~ Lunch ~~
"What's with the scrambled eggs?" I asked him, as he always ate scrambled eggs for lunch. Not always, twice very week?
"What about it?"
"How can you eat cold scrambled eggs. Disgusting." I stuck my tongue out at him.
"Well, I like them cold."
"I bet. Whaaaaat?" He was narrowing his eyes at me and looking all weird. I really hated it when he did that.
"That annoys you, doesn't it?" He laughed a little, and then nudged me. I just rolled my eyes at him. Within a month since I started sitting with him, he knew pretty much everything about me. He became my best friend. He knew how to annoy me, how to make me laugh.
"Hey, coming to my party right?" He asked me, as he took another gulp of his lunch. Party? What party? I tried to recollect anything that he'd said to me about a party before.
"It's my birthday next week." He was frowning. On my god! How could I forget his birthday?
"Sorry." I looked at him apologetically. "Promise I'll be there." I smiled at him.

20th September - Sohail's birthday ~
Making it to Sohail's house was a difficult task considering that we lost our way even with enough resources at our disposal. After a lot of asking, and following of directions, we finally made it.
