Another long day in the life of Jeet. Great.
Jeet walked up to the bus stop and stood right under the covers of a small shop. Like he did, everyday. Sohail came right after, giving him just a glance, nothing else. They stood there silently and the occasional honking of cars and gearing up of motors filled the air. It had been a week since Sasha had accepted Sohail back in her life, and rejected him. They weren't seen together though. That was odd.
"So you going out with her or what?" Jeet asked Sohail gruffly.
"How could you fall in love with her, man?" Sohail looked at him with animosity.
"How could you just leave her like that?"
"I was angry! Okay? She left me."
"Do you even like her or not?" Jeet asked, as he really doubted his genuineness.
"I don't know. I don't care. Besides, I make her happy."
"Happy? For how long? You can't keep pretending! You're gonna mess her life, again!"
"So I just hand her over to you? NEVER. She doesn't like you. Move on man."
Jeet didn't know what to say. He really couldn't understand why Sohail was doing this. Maybe he was just lonely. Yeah, he was lonely. Jeet knew Sohail inside out, he could figure these things out. He still remembered those days when Sasha would just die to hear a word from him. Being the egoistic jerk he was, Sohail would lead her on. And he would just watch her innocent eyes, just needing some care and love. That was all Sasha needed.
They reached school and walked to their classes. Sohail and Sasha were in the same class. Jeet was at the other end. A week had flown by, and nothing, NOTHING had happened. Sasha would just hang out with Riya and Preet. Nobody else. Sasha and Sohail talked at times, it wasn't like they were going out.
Jeet entered into his class reluctantly and walked up to his locker. Jus another plain day at school. *sigh*
Classes went by and Jeet tried to pay all attention he could. But his mind just went back to the summer day when he had met her. The laughs they had, the time they spent. He was living in the past. Literally.
He sat alone in lucnhbreak. He had friends, but all they did was talk. He just needed a peaceful atmosphere.
He sat down on the green grass and proceeded to open his box, when he felt a shadow over him. Who could it be?
"Sasha?"
"You didn't think that I would just leave you like that?" Sasha asked him, smiling.
Jeet just looked back at her, and then continued eating. Some part of him felt guilty for doing what he did to Sohail. Some part of him was angry with Sasha. Both adding together, he had to keep away from Sasha. As much as he could. Sohail might still be in love with her. He couldn't ruin their chances. Could he?
"Talk to me Jeet! What's wrong?" Sasha questioned him nervously.
"You know what's wrong Sasha, just keep the hell away from me!" Jeet nearly shouted at her. Damn, was it a little too much?
Sasha frowned, and turned around. What was wrong with him? It wasn't like she had totally forgotten about him and moved on to Sohail or something. He would never get agitated. She hardly remembers a time when Jeet had been angry with her. Something was really bothering him then. But for now, she would leave it there.
"Wait!" Sasha smiled, before turning around.
"What?"
"Nothing." He went back to looking at the uninteresting box that lay on his lap.
Sasha frowned, and turned around. She walked into her class which was empty and sat down with a long face, when Sohail entered the class with Rekha, the 'new hot girl'. No, Not AGAIN. He probably hadn't noticed her 'cause he was totally flirting with her. Sasha rolled her eyes at him.
When will he grow up?
"Oh hey Sohail." Just to catch his attention.
"Making new friends?" Sasha asked him with a sarcastic smile. "Yeah." He replied sheepishly. They weren't going out, they weren't just friends. Their relationship was something ununderstandable. That day, he asked 'to be' in her life again. But he really didnt seem interested. He was hardly talking to Sasha, just fooling around.
"What are we, Sohail?" Sasha finally decided to ask him.
"We're friends, right? I mean, you forgave me."
"Then what did you mean by all the drama that you did? All the 'give us a chance' and not letting it 'go to waste', huh? Sasha imitated him. She was irritated! It was like history was repeating itself.
"And what did you say to Jeet that he won't talk to me?" Sasha thundered at him. All her years of worry, concern, anger, irritation was finally all broiling out.
"I didn't say nothing Sasha. Maybe he's just irritated with YOU."
"You know what Sohail? You were never worth it. I stood by YOU all the time. And I freakking had to suffer cause you messed up. I hate you! YOU messed up my entire life." Sasha heaved. Sohail just looked at her, expressionless.
"Whaaaatever."
Sasha didnt know what to do now. Her whole life was so complicated and mind-boggling. She decided to give the matter a rest, and for once, concentrate on her studies. She was an elevnth-grader, after all.
Days passed by, and nothing happened.
Sasha's Point Of View :-
It was a windy day and the I could feel the bushes ruffle about me, laughing in the wind. Trees whistled and whispered secrets into each others' ears and shook about, with joy and laughter. I looked up at the clouds, to see a bottle of coke, pair of shades, and an angry man witha long beard. How random could those shapes be?
I was walking towards my class when the bell rang right into my ears.
I had IP practicals next. Great.
As I walked past Jeet's class, I saw him. He was putting his head down. I stood there, and waited for five minutes, watching him, when he came out of the class. He looked all weary and tired. I hadn't talked to him for quite some time, and I really was longing to.
"Jeet?" I didn't want to talk to him if he didn't want to.
"What?"
"Everything okay?"
"What is it to you?"
"Oh, come on! Don't ask me that! Don't act like nothing happened in the past few weeks! I am sorry! Really sorry! I couldn't help but get lured by Sohail. I'm sorry." I repeated again and again. I could repeat it a thousand times if that was what it would take.
"You love Sohail. He loves you. I'm not coming in your way! What have I done wrong?"
"You've not done anything wrong, Jeet. Just talk to me. Please."
"No." He pulled his hand out of my grip with agitation.
"Please Jeet. And by the way, me and Sohail were not meant to be. We both know that now." Would that convince him?
Wild thoughts were running through my head. What could I do to convince him? I looked around to see if it was safe to do what I was about to do. I gathered all my courage, took a deep breath, and for the first time of my life, I kissed a boy.
