Jeet's POV :-
"I was having the time of my life with Sasha. And he just had to come back, didn't he?"
~~~ FLASHBACK ~~~
"Oh no!" Jeet half shouted, half screamed. "No! I had almost reached the top!" Jeet said rather agitatedly as he led his avatar through the video game on his phone. Jeet had been attempting to top the high scores table since a month now. And he never gave up. His game was interrupted by yet another person - "Who's calling me now?" He lifted his phone to see Sasha's name flashing on the screen.
"I mean, who is calling me?" He said in a more calm and cool voice. He picked the call.
"Hey Jeet." came in her soft voice. It was almost as if she was whispering.
"Can you speak a little louder Sasha? Really can't hear you."
"Um, okay. I just wanted to know if you had the maths assignment sheet?"
"I do."
"Well, do you have a scanner?"
"Um, no. But I could come give it to you!" Jeet said.
"No Jeet. I can't spare you that trouble."
"Look, I have tuitions at 5. My teacher's house is close to yours. I could come and give it to you then!"
"Thanks so much! You're a life saver!" Jeet could hear her heave out a sigh of relief. She hadn't completed the assignment yet? That was weird. It was due tomorrow, the first day of 11th grade.
Jeet looked at his watch, wanting time to go faster. He hadn't seen Sasha for two months now, he really missed her. At least he would see her. But he had lied to her. He didn't have any tuitions as of such that day. But he wanted to meet her. He couldn't help but feel she wanted to, too.
Tick. Tick. 3:00
Tick. Tick. 3:15
Tick. Tick. 3:45
Tick. Tick. 4:45
"It's 4:45! Shit!" It was almost a half an hour's ride to Sasha's apartment by cycle. They had decided that they would meet at the junction near her house. Jeet's stomach groaned hungrily as he cycled hurriedly through the narrow lanes. He had escaped the traffic that was always present on the main road leading to Sasha's apartment. It was already 5 and he still had two miles to go. He quickly rang her up.
"Sasha. Coming. In. 10 minutes." He said, trying to catch his breath.
He rode as fast he could and pulled up near the coffee shop. He saw a tall girl in deep blue jeans and a pretty pink top. Her hair was loose, falling over her shoulders. She was looking into her phone and smiling.
"What you looking at?" Sasha quickly lifted her head up nervously. Then, she smiled and Jeet could feel his insides go all warm and fuzzy.
"Nothing. Um. The sheet?" Jeet carefully took out the sheet from his file and handed it out to her. She took it and mouthed a big "Thank You". "You're welcome." Jeet flashed a grin.
"Are you hungry??" Sasha asked with a decided emphasis and Jeet realised that he was hungry as crazy! "I have no money on me!" Jeet said, frowning. "That's ok! Consider it my thanks for coming till here." Jeet nodded. Jeet was walking with his cycle on one side and Sasha on the other. They were silent, and they remained so for quite some time.
"Have you been talking to Sohail?" Sasha asked Jeet, which pretty much surprised him. Sasha hadn't talked about him for a year now, and now he could see pain in her eyes. "No, um. He doesn't come down." An "Oh" was all Sasha could give. After some time, however, she recovered when they reached the roadside eatery stall.
