part nineteen

I heard crickets and other insects out in the woods. The campers were in their spots and the game was starting.
  I would meet up with them after I grabbed a flash light and the first aid kit if anyone fell or was injured.

As I was about to leave the nurses station, I heard footsteps outside. I thought everyone was out near the woods?
The steps were heavy and the sticks broke. I drew back my breath to listen more as I kept my eyes focused on the door.

I felt a hand on my shoulder. I screamed loudly and dropped my flashlight. It was pitch dark and I was freaking out.

"abby, abby. It's okay is just me, it's nick," I heard a deep voice say.

I opened my eyes with his flashlight turning on and pointing in my direction. He had his hand on my arm.

"oh god you scared the crap out of me," I said relieved. He laughed a little while smiling down. Nick said, "I didn't mean to scare you."

His brown eyes met mine and my heart beat slowed down. I broke our stare and bent down to grab my stuff that I dropped.

"I need to go to the campers, but I'll see you later right," I asked.

"yeah you will."

He looked back at me and left out the back door. I tapped my flashlight to get it to turn on again. I sighed as I kept hitting it. The light flickered and turned back on.

I smiled and shined it to the door. It was wide open. But, I swear nick shut it. I heard it close. My eyes wandered around. I was too scared to move or think properly.

A noise came up from behind me. I looked back quickly. Thank god it was just Tommy. "you and nick must love sneaking up on people," I said sounding relieved once again.

He didn't move or say anything. I could only see his breathing heavily as his chest went up and down. He held something in his hands, but I couldn't see it because of the bad lighting.

So, I shined my light down. It was an axe covered in dark red blood. I couldn't speak, only look at him. His eyes were red and I thought for a second that he and Cindy were pranking me.

I was wrong; very wrong.
