30. Stars

Camilo's POV

I couldn't believe it. We were breathing under water. My breathing raced as I tried to wrap my head around the thought. Merella's hand reached out for mine. As soon as she grabbed my hand my heart rate calmed.

"I know it seems crazy Camilo, but this water advances my powers. After all it was right here where I got my powers." She said with a smile. I smiled back. "Go on." she said with a straight face.

"What?" I question looking into her eyes for an answer.

She stepped back and crossed her arms. "Didn't you want to explain?"

"Oh right. Okay." I started with a sigh, "When I left and had to go on that trip, it really was to meet Maria. My grandmother dragged me all the way there. I don't love her. Heck I can't stand her. It's an arranged engagement. I left though. I left for you." I said slowly avoiding her eyes. I felt her hands cup my face. She lifted it slowly, staring into my eyes.

"Why? Why did you leave for me?" She asked. Her blue eyes were flooded with questions.

"Mer come on. I love you. Te necestio. Please forgive me." I flushed. Mer's lips were drawn in a tight line. "I mean it's okay if yo" I started again quickly. I was so glad to be cut off. Mer through her arms around my neck.

"I have always loved you Camilo and I always will." She said while tears rolled down her cheeks.

"I left because I wanted to run away. I wanted to run with you. We could even move to the city." I started to babble. Merella put a finger on my lips to quiet me.

"Camilo we can't leave but we can try to fix the problem." She said. I nodded in agreement. We could fix everything.

I took a deep breath after breaking the surface of the water. I swam to shore and quickly threw on my shirt. I stood to go home. Suddenly I felt Mer grab my hand. "Stay." was all she had to say. So I did.

I pulled her out of the water and wrapped her in my jacket. She snuggled under my arm as we laid down. We stared into the sky, watching as stars shot by. I pulled her closer with my arm wrapped around her. She turned to look at me. Her eyes trailed down my body then met my eyes once again. I pulled our faces close together. Our breathing synched up as our chests rose and fell at the same time. My heart was racing, begging to leave my chest. Mer closed the gap between us. The kiss sent sparks throughout my body. When I was with her it felt like all the stars in the sky wanted us to be together.
