Merella's POV
The next day I jumped out of bed. I glanced over at my window and saw a small note. I walked over to the paper and opened it gently. The words were written with care. "Please give me a chance. Meet me in our field tonight. -C". I sighed after reading the note. I folded it back up and slid it into my pocket.I made my way to the infirmary to work most of the day away. As much as I didn't want to, I missed Camilo. I missed the way that he smelled, the way that he looked at me, and even the way he teased me. I smiled to myself. I was working with one old lady who beckoned me over.
"Yes?" I asked with a polite smile on my face. She grabbed my hand and patted it gently.
"Merella I can see the love in your eyes. I know some people didn't approve of the relationship but I do." She smiled up at me. I beamed from ear to ear. Her words were exactly what I needed to hear. I thanked her for her words and walked away. I headed out of the building to take my break. Suddenly the clouds rolled in and I chuckled at the thought of Pepa. I ate my food in silence. I listened to the wind swirling around me. I missed the feeling of my hair dancing with it. Without it the wind seemed more harsh, by sending chills down my spine. I sighed, then stood up to head back inside. Suddenly I realized how much worse the storm had gotten.
I felt a wave of anxiety wash over me. Something had to be seriously wrong if Felix wasn't able to calm Pepa down yet. I raced towards their house. After all I still had a gift, I could help somehow. When I got to their house I burst through the doors. Everyone was huddled in the middle of the room. Pepa had tears running down her cheeks. When our eyes met she let out a sob. She ran to me and pulled me into a tight hug.
"He's gone Merella. We don't know where he went." she sobbed into my shoulder. I took in a sharp breath. Then I realized that everyone was staring at me. Like I had the solution to this problem. And then I noticed that Maria was even looking to me for answers. The sight of her face still made my blood boil.
"Merella you are the only one who can find him." was all that Alma said. She didn't even try to look me in the eyes. I nodded. She was right. I did know where he was. But I didn't want them to find him just yet.
"I'll try to find him." I said with a smile. Pepa smiled at me. I turned away from them and headed out the door.
"Good luck Merella!" Bruno shouted after me. His awkwardness made me laugh. I headed to the spot that I knew Camilo would be at. As the sun started to set I fastened my pace. Soon I was running. My heart was racing with hope. I rounded the corner and time slowed. There he was. Mi vida. My world.
"Te necestio Mer."
