23. Making it Official

Camilo's POV
"I love you to Mer." I said softly. Something was poking into my chest so I reached down and felt something weird. I sat up and pulled out a glowing green tablet. One of Bruno's tablets. I looked up at Mer my eyes filled with questions.

"Bruno gave it to me when you were gone. He said I get to make my own future." She beamed. I tilted to tablet back and forth, watching as the heart cracked then un cracked. I smiled when the heart stayed whole. Then I had to head back to my house. My grandmother had been getting more sick lately. So much so that Mirabel has had to take on some of my grandma's chores. My parents had been going out of town more and more lately but I could care less. All I needed was Merella.

The hours ticked by until around 3 I had made up my mind. I walked to Mer's house with a bouquet of violets. I knocked on her door, sucking in a quick breath for confidence as her dad open the door. "Hola Señor. I wanted to take your daughter out on a date. Is that ok?" I asked. Mer's dad's lit up and he shook my hand.

"Of course Camilo. You'd be perfect for my daughter." He smiled. Then he shouted to his wife as he led me inside. I walked up the stairs knocking once again on Merella's door. The door creaked open and she smiled.

"Camilo hi. Why did you come in through the front door?" She asked.

I handed her the flowers and said, "Quieres cenar juntos esta noche? Would you like to have dinner tonight?" She giggled and nodded.

"Yes I would love too. Let me get dressed really quick." she said ducking back into her room. I let out a quick sigh of relief. With in a matter of minutes she was ready. She stepped out of her room and time slowed down. She wore a sage dress that hugged her body. Her hair was thrown into a quick ponytail and I stared in awe. This was the first time I had truly seen her hair out of her face. She had a natural blush on her cheeks and nose that made her look angelic. I couldn't help but stare. She laughed and walked right past me quickly patting my shoulder as she did. I turned on my heels and followed her.

I took her to a new hidden spot that I had found. I had the place all set up. There were candles and a checkered blanket. Mer gasped in shock. She turned to look at me saying "You did all this?" I nodded as my chest puffed out with pride. I took her hand and we sat down on the blanket.

"You look beautiful mi vida." I said as I kissed her cheek. She laughed quietly and then leaned on my shoulder. We sat there not talking just listening to nature's whispers. The sunset painted the sky with colors no one could see elsewhere. When I was with Merella time flowed in it's own way. She was my heart, my breath. "Would you be my girlfriend. Officially I mean?" She turned and looked me in my eyes nodding. No more words were said as we let the time flow. For we were only along for the ride that time offered.
