Merella's POV
But those hearts weren't ours.
"Actually I can do something about it." Alma said. We turned to see Maria on the ground. She was shaking as the tears fell from her eyes. Soon a glowing light started to radiate off her. Maria's eyes were a shining blue. She lifted her head to look slowly at Camilo. Camilo's hand slipped slowly from mine. His face was a drawn blank.
"Camilo don't look in her eyes." I said quickly as I covered his eyes. Maria's whole being was directed towards him.
"Cami just look at me." she purred. She tried to walk closer to Camilo. Bruno jumped and with the help of Felix they managed to hold her back. Maria started to become enraged. Then her body stopped glowing and she went limp.
"We're gonna go bring her back to her parents." Felix said. I nodded and took my hand off of Camilo's eyes. I tried to read his face. There was a look of pure horror on everyone's face but his. He turned to look at me and smiled softly. Everything seemed to be moving slower. Camilo put his hand on my back and guided me to his room.
"Are you ok?" I asked quietly. After all he hadn't said a word the whole time. Again he slowly turned to look at me. He nodded. Something was off about him but I didn't feel like digging for an answer. Camilo laid down on his bed and sighed. I walked over and joined him. He put his arm around me and pulled me close.
"Mer, I think she did something. I don't know what but I feel like i'm floating above my body." He quickly stated He was cut off by his jaw clenching shut.
"Camilo? What's happening?" I asked nervously cupping his face. His eyes rolled to look into mine. They were full of fear. Before I could do anything his eyes glazed over and rolled to stare at the ceiling. My heart was racing with fear. I felt him pull his arm away from me. He even pushed my body off the bed.
"I told you I would have him." My head snapped around to the sound. It was a blend of Camilo's voice and Maria's. I looked up at him and saw the same glowing eyes that Maria had earlier on Camilo's face. "You didn't think you were the only one that the water gifted abilities to, did you?"
