Eddie's PoV
"The bones of yet another victim were found in a park only a few miles from where two other bodies were reported last September. The victim later ended up being identified as a 20 year old woman from Bay City, who was last seen going out to take her dog for a walk. It is suspected that the three murders were all done by the same person, making the search for the killer all the more pressing."
"Yikes," I comment blankly, turning off the tv. "That's what everybody wants to hear bright and early in the morning."
"They are a bad guy, right? Sounds like an invitation to a free meal to me," Venom decides to chime in, making me roll my eyes. I stand up and start heading for the kitchen, looking for something to snack on to hold us over for the next few hours.
"I think that's a terrible idea, and it would draw a lot of attention to us if they don't end up catching whoever it is. Besides, it's not like we're exactly in the position to be going out and doing crazy shit like that," I try to reason with them. All they do is scoff in return, manifesting themselves next to me.
"Excuses, excuses! You know that you crave it too, Eddie. Why are you denying us food?"
I pretended like I didn't hear what they had said, although it may be true. The horrifying reality of it all was that I did crave it, but no body ever wants to admit something like that. We had been keeping satisfied by staying strictly to an animal based diet, but it still didn't stop the watering in my mouth whenever the mere thought of tasting the flesh of a human crossed my mind. I despised the fact that I was practically drooling at the idea of eating a person, but I truly couldn't help it. When it was just Venom, it was easier to control, and we could communicate our way through it. This was different though, since there was not only a lack of a communication, but a hunger that was even more demanding, and ravenous.
My head shakes as I lay out a pan and empty an entire bag of tater tots onto it. "You act like we have a choice, Vee. Humans aren't exactly an easy food source to get without paying a price, you know. I mean it's not like you can just walk into a restaurant and order a human to go. It's dangerous, and we already have enough to worry about as it is. I really don't want to have to get involved with anything like that unless we absolutely have to." They pout but don't bother to argue any further about the matter, only letting out a frustrated 'humph' to show how disappointed they were. "Relax, we're going to pick up another pig later on today, I'm sure we can hold off until then." That seems to perk them up a little bit, Venoms face brightening almost immediately at the mention of food. As ridiculous as it was, I actually found it kind of cute.
"The child seems to have taken to our diet quite well," they state, making my smile falter a bit as I looked away. Staring into the window of the oven, I watch the tater tots as they cook, crossing my arms as I feel the uncomfortable gaze of Venom boring holes into my skull expecting a response. I couldn't bring myself to look at them, but the shift in the air was making my skin crawl. They lower themselves a bit so I could just barely see them in my peripheral vision. "Eddie.. The way that you look, and the way that you act, still tells me that you are not happy.."
God, they really do just cut to the chase, don't they? My head snaps back in Venoms direction, eyes wide with surprise at how bold their statement was, but it doesn't last for long. Guilt was flooding the body from both of us, and the eye-contact we were holding was full of electricity fueled by all the things we wanted to say, and didn't have the guts to.
Finally, I look away again, and I somehow find the courage to try and speak. "It's going to take awhile to get used to, you know," I attempt to say, praying that they would just drop the subject. Their downhearted look only deepens at my words, and I feel myself break into a cold sweat.
