(A/N: This is the part of the story where I'm gonna start leaving out smut and gore warnings, simply just because this is a mature book anyways. It's chapter 18, y'all already know what you're in for. Also- watched Venom 3.... Yikes, amirite? Lmao. Anyways, I hope y'all enjoy this chapter, I had to learn things for it.)

Venom's PoV

Ever since the night that Ashley tried to leave, things in the house have been horribly uneasy. The air always seemed thick with tension, so little words to take up space, and yet the air had never felt so heavy.

The girl has been different since then too, but the human mind is feeble, and possibly just isn't meant to withstand all I had showed her. She had gone from not wanting anything to do with us, to never wanting to leave Eddie's side, always tending to his every aid whenever he should need it, and even sometimes when he doesn't. Perhaps it's a side effect from one single-minded organism living through such a dense part of another humans life. Perhaps she does it out of guilt, and wants to prove her loyalty to the man in whatever way she can, even in the most miniscule ways. I may never know the real reason, but even after her over-protective nature passes I fear she may never be the same, and I think Eddie does too. Which is why I was glad when he suggested we get something to help lighten up the atmosphere a little bit for all of us.

Today was our anniversary, and the body is tense with emotion, Eddie's blood absolutely brimming with anxiety and excitement as we drive to our next destination. I hadn't the slightest idea what had him so giddy, but apparently it's something he'd been debating for a long time now, which only made me more curious. Even though I was practically bursting with anticipation waiting to see what the surprise was, I couldn't be more thankful to see him so happy in this moment.

"Are we almost there yet?" I pester him again, eager to finally see what he had planned. He rolls his eyes but lets out a little snicker, clearly amused.

"Dude we literally just left the house."

"Ugh, but you've made me wait so long already! Pull over and I can get us there in five minutes," I demand, though the man doesn't budge one bit.

"We are not doing that, alright? You can wait a little bit, just chill out for awhile, it'll be worth it I promise," he tries to reason with me. I grumble and settle down per his request, but my mind is still buzzing with ideas.

"Can I get a hint?" I press. Eddie let's out a sigh, shaking his head.

"Man, you're not gonna give this up, are you? Alright what kinda hint do you want?"

"Is it food?" I ask hopefully.

"No."

"Then we might as well just go back home." The human wheezes with laughter, almost making me break and crack a smile, but I hold strong, hoping that maybe if I'm convincing enough he just might tell me.

"Come on, don't be like that. Trust me, it'll be good for everybody, and I'm sure you'll love it just as much as Ashley will," he reassures me. I want to argue further, but I'm weak to him, and although I'm skeptical I have no other choice but to put my faith in him and quietly resign.

"Well... alright I guess. But you owe me for the suspense," I huff.

"Mm, can I pay you back with a kiss?" he asks cheekily, briefly taking his eyes off the road to give me a flirtatious wink that nearly turns me into a puddle.

"Well uh-... I-I mean-" I find myself stammering over my words, something that I had never done before meeting Eddie, and it makes me overwhelmingly flustered. I guess hundreds of years being deprived of these affections really gets to a guy. I manage to clear my throat enough to get at least a sentence out. "I suppose it is a special occasion so... it will suffice."

I agree just in time for him to hit a red light, and as soon as the car is stopped safely he turns and wraps a hand around my head, pulling me in closer. My mind goes hazy as Eddie's lips meet mine, my eyes closing instinctively as he tilts his head to deepen the kiss. The taste of him is so inviting, the lingering trace of spearmint on his tongue from the gum he was chewing on earlier, his lips as soft and plump as a rose. Oh he was addicting, and he pulls away all too soon but when I see his face illuminated by the stream of afternoon sunlight, I feel a shiver run through me. His soft smile and chocolatey brown eyes were enough to hypnotize me into doing whatever he wanted, and I would give him all I had for it.

"We'll be there before you know it, babe. Just relax and enjoy the ride," he says soothingly. I cooperate without a second thought, still too lost in the feeling of his kiss to have a moment to disagree. His tender hands reach up to caress my face, and I lean into the only caring touch I've ever known. He made me feel like I could tear through planets as long as we were together. Like I was more than just the flesh I was made of, and I could overcome the nature I was born with just by loving him alone. With him, I wasn't a monster. I was his protector, his lover, the parent to his baby. And he was my everything.
