(A/N: Just a disclaimer before I go any further into writing this story, I am writing this before Venom part 3 comes out. That being said, I apologize if certain aspects of the story don't seem feasible after the films release. I unfortunately cannot see into the future. Carry on, y'all.)

Eddie's PoV

Well, shit. I suppose my mouth reacted a bit faster than my brain did on this one, but despite that painful fact, I still think we could work with this. Maybe having her at the house will open up a better opportunity to explain everything.

"We had one job, Eddie," Venom drones.

"I know that! Ugh!" I growl in frustration and kick a pile of empty boxes in the corner, then crumple up a piece of paper and toss it across the room just for the hell of it. "What else was I supposed to do, Vee!? Let her freeze in her car for the next month because her only other option would be to lay up with a cannibal?"

"Aren't you technically a cannibal?"

"NO, YOU ARE!" I wail.

"That is quite enough!" Vee says firmly. I could feel my temper starting to rise, and all the progress we made earlier in the day already felt like it was falling apart, which wasn't comforting. I'm breathing heavy, my heart rate going through the roof in frustration, and the symbiote catches on and takes action. "I can tell this night has been a lot for you both. We must finish here so we can get home."

Damn, they had a good point. I told Ashley I would finish this shift for the both of us and I was wasting time.

"You're-... right," I agree, trying to reel myself in. "You're right, there's a lot to do, and not a lot of time to do it. I need to focus."

"Good. Just breathe. I will help you."

I take Vees advice and take a deep breath to clear my head. Once I'm on auto pilot, I immediately begin working, not wanting to squander the few hours I was given to finish the job. At first I wasn't sure how Venom would be able to help, given all the cameras in the store, but after a bit of talking we managed to find a work around it. After that was taken care of, it became smooth sailing from that point on. Venom and I manage to knock out a job that typically took eight hours in half that time, with a half hour break to spare. It almost made me wish that Vee and I could work together more often, though I wasn't so sure how keen everyone would be about having an alien around.

The shift was finished, but the night was far from over, and now that the formalities were done with there were bigger fish to fry. Now we were sitting outside of the store, allowing a moment to ourselves before we went to the car. The back door was illuminated by nothing but a lone motion light for when the employees came to take out trash, and the slow falling snow made the car look so foreboding. I couldn't lie, I was dreading the idea of laying in the bed I had made for myself. My lungs fill with crisp, cold air that I exhale in an exasperated sigh.

"Are we doing the right thing, Vee?" I ask quietly, not wanting to disturb the peace.

"What is it that we could be doing wrong?" I nearly wanted to chuckle at the simplicity of their answer, but I was too busy trying to figure out how I could say it in a way that would make them understand.

"Well, maybe wrong isn't the best word for it. Just-... is it smart? Is it really a good idea to be taking someone in right now? I mean everything is already scrambled as it is, I just feel like we keep taking on more things when we haven't even finished what we started with."
